The Experience

A small permaculture project at the edge of a forest and near the beach in a beautiful village in the north of Portugal few minutes from Viana do Castelo and an hour and half to Porto (by train, the station a short walk away). The property is on Caminho de Santigao. Volunteers will assist in creating an environmental friendly eco-system for plants and animals. Some works related to the maintenance of the property and cleaning will be included.

Eva and Max were both really nice, funny and caring with me. I really enjoyed my stay in Afife. The meals were delicious, the house is really pleasant and all their pets are cute. I am truly happy of this experience! Thank you for everything :)

It was a wonderful experience!Max and Eva are two special people, they made us feel at home from the first moment not letting miss anything,Max is also a fantastic cook and prepared very good food for us every day! The house was welcoming and allowed us to have a bit of independence as it also had a bathroom and kitchen, the only problem was that in the bathroom we could only use the shower and the sink while to use the toilet we had to enter their house.The work was varied, some days we did hard maintenance work on the house and some days simpler things.It's an expirience that I recommend!

Your discipline in getting up early and getting the work done before lunch made everything run smoothly for us as well as giving you time to enjoy seeing the area together with your friend. I hope you enjoyed the nature walks we did together to show you the beautiful places around us and lunch in the orchard with Pilgrim.

Overall a good experience, Eva is very nice, Max was the one who managed us the most and the tasks which turned out to be mostly cleaning and bricklaying. I expected work more in contact with nature. For hospitality and food they have always been top. You cannot use the private bathroom for toiletries. It had not been specified to us before and a unpleasant event occurred, even if it was resolved in the end

Thank you for your review. But I have to clarify that there were no bricklaying included in your tasks. You did gardening cleaning and some painting. You were given a private and spacious unit with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with hot water. We had some problems with the WC in that unit and upon your arrival I informed you that you should use the WC in the main house which is few meters away. We also offered you a unit inside the main house with bathroom and WC but you chose the outside unit. Unfortunately you didn't follow the instruction and used the WC in your building and it caused the unpleasant event that you are referring to in your review. It was really unpleasant for us to clean the blocked WC and the pipes.
Otherwise, I thank you for your great work and all the help you gave us. Wish you many pleasant experiences in the future.

Foi muito gratificante estar na casa de Eva, e seu esposo, Max e seu cachorro o projeto me senti como se estivesse em casa me trataram muito bem , recomendo bastante para ter contato com a natureza , a casa é muito grande, e muito aconchegante , e bom para quem quer relaxar e busca paz de espirito , sobre as tarefas são leves , como plantar e podar as arvores , possui e supermercados e farmarcia perto e andando um pouco tem o mar , e 3 estaçao de trem tem o Viana do castelo shopping no qual voce pode aprender a cultura local, eva me ensinou sobre a consiencia ambietal de separar o lixo
