The Experience
My name is Francesco, and together with my girlfriend, we manage a cozy Airbnb apartment with three private rooms. Unlike a hostel, our place is quiet and does not have shared common areas or a party atmosphere. Each guest has their own private room to enjoy a comfortable and independent stay. This is the perfect place for travelers looking for a peaceful and private accommodation experience in Italy.

I strongly discourage volunteering here. The host did not honor the agreed conditions: the promised reimbursement was first reduced, then completely refused. The private space was not as described, and expectations kept changing without notice. He frequently sent messages outside working hours, sometimes making unjustified accusations and disrespecting volunteers, clients, and the manager, creating a hostile atmosphere. I've volunteered for 10+ years with great experiences, this was the worst. The hostel was overcrowded, increasing workload and stress. If you still go, have a backup plan.

You arrived without signing the agreement or confirming via Worldpackers, trying to avoid rules and reviews. We hosted you out of empathy, but you ignored basic tasks, disrespected roles, and caused operational issues. We had to ask you to leave. After asking us not to review you, you waited till the last minute to leave yours — a calculated and dishonest move. This experience revealed a lack of transparency, reliability, and integrity.

Infelizmente, minha experiência não foi como eu esperava, e precisei encerrar o voluntariado mais cedo. Pontos combinados previamente não foram cumpridos. Após uma longa viagem, a recepção foi distante, assim que cheguei, só pediram que eu colocasse minha mala em um canto e começasse a limpar imediatamente, sem sequer me oferecer água. Não senti acolhimento. O apartamento era pequeno, desorganizado e sem privacidade, e o banheiro não tinha tranca. Diante disso, optei por sair no dia seguinte, pois não me senti segura ou à vontade. Espero que este feedback ajude a melhorar futuras experiências.

We welcomed you warmly, shared dinner, and showed you everything. You started your shift but left the next day without notice, taking the key and disappearing. No message, no goodbye. That’s not respectful or safe. We honored our agreement — you left without communication after staying and eating for free. We hope future hosts are aware.
