The Experience

Did you know that wool is a carbon sink? I am using wool grown from sheep who graze and browse in my home community to reduce fire danger and enhance soil health. Cleaning, washing, and drying fleece, carding to prepare for spinning, some spinning if desired, assisting with natural dyeing (gathering wild plants, tending dye vats, tending skeins), winding finished skeins, assisting with dressing loom on occasion.

I had so much fun staying at Chicken Foot Ranch! The surrounding community is amazing and welcoming. Kiri is a wonderful host- she's incredibly wise and a true fountain of knowledge. I ate lots of yummy food and had plenty of privacy in my cozy loft bedroom. Kiri has many projects on her homestead so be prepared to be busy with stimulating and exciting projects- of course followed up by a relaxing day at the pond. Northern California is beautiful and I recommend this experience to people who want to be more in touch with nature and chilling out!

Louise! You are so fun and easygoing, I felt like you seamlessly slipped into my family life. Thank you so much for your help, my home has never been so fire safe. That was a hard push, and you rolled with it! I'm glad you got to relax too. Thanks also for being a great friend to my teen, you bridged the generations with grace and aplomb.

We had SO many fun conversations! I learned a lot from you. I love to connect with an intelligent young person. May your next adventures be fulfilling, your travel be easy, and may the world open up to you in exciting ways. Bon voyage!
