Program Details

We are an innovative family-run NGO based in rural Battambang and transforming the lives of local youths through practical education and sustainable growth initiatives. Everyday we teach about 140 of the sweetest and most well-behaved students, that attend the school for daily English and IT classes, as well as other motivational and character building programs. We also provide the older students with opportunities for career development through teacher training, mentorship and a new initiative in tourism and hospitality.

Activities & Shift

Our main school is in Kounklong Village, about 20 minutes drive from Battambang City Centre on the National 5 Road. The village has a local restaurant and bar with a few shops and a pharmacy nearby, but other than that it's mostly just rice fields and rice farmers! On the weekends we usually organise motorbike trips around Battambang and nearby provinces to explore some of Cambodia's hidden gems and best kept secrets. We have recently opened a new centre at Kampong Chhnang, about 1 hour drive from Phnom Penh, so it's also possible to volunteer there if you want to be part of setting up a new school from scratch.

Rules

We provide traditional Cambodian accommodation at the school with mattresses, bed sheets and fans and mosquito nets if needed. The accommodation is basic but quite comfortable and spacious with a western style toilet and kitchen facilities for volunteers. Rooms are single sex and shared with a maximum of 3 other volunteers, although you will most likely be sharing with 1 other person.

We provide free lunch and dinner everyday, including a variety of delicious Cambodian dishes accompanied by Battambang's signature homegrown rice. Most meals contain meat and a wide range of organic fruit and vegetables that are also grown on site. The school also has a small shop that sells a variety of snacks, bread and cold drinks.
