The Experience
Join our small hotel team! We are a family focused hotel in downtown Hilo. We would love to add another bright member to our already wonderful team. Daily tasks vary from housekeeping, laundry, breakfast attending, and general cleaning and even front desk support. You will truly feel safe, welcomed and respected with us. We offer all of our volunteers a room with shared bathrooms. Additionally, our volunteers have a shared kitchen and tv room.

I spent three months working at the inn. While I generally liked it, it also left me with mixed feelings. The manager Makana is really nice and tried her best to make us feel welcome and supported, however she could also be stressed out and could take it out on the volunteers. The schedule could change a day in advance without communication. There has also been some drama, and we sometimes felt unprepared for our job. We did get food and private bedrooms though. Generally it is a good experience, just be prepared for some drama, and keep in mind that housekeeping is hard work.

I loved my time at the inn! the manager makana is great and all the other volunteers were so nice! the work was easy and i had a lot of time to explore hawaii!!

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the inn. It is super close to downtown Hilo, and the public transportation allows you to be connected to the whole island. However, sometimes, I found the environment very stressful, and I often felt like I was not trained adequately. Additionally, there was a fair amount of drama between the staff members that occasionally involved volunteers. But Makana tried very hard to give us as much free time as possible sometimes even giving us 3 days off a week, which gave me lots of chances to explore the island.

I had a great experience at the inn. I met Makana, the manager, a ray of sunshine in this hotel, but I also met lots of other volunteers from all over the world. Over there, we're lucky enough to have a solo room, and they're also very flexible about the schedule. Despite the occasional drama between employees, I have wonderful memories of my adventure here.
