Just spent almost two months in Cashel doing general housekeeping. The work is relaxed and simple, cleaning. bathrooms, changing bed linens, cleaning the tv room, kitchen, mopping the floors and ironing on a machine. There are three different buildings in the complex. One for the guest house, loft,, and hostel. The town is not very large but nice with lots of pubs and several supermarkets. You should be aware though that most of the people living there besides a few people in the loft are homeless. Ntapo is a great manager and if you like to play pool and listen to music, this is the place.

I spent 18 days with cold water in the room and the manager didn't fix it and the light in the room was burnt out and he didn't buy a new one from the first day, the hostel was always dirty and we tidied and cleaned well every day but immediately they messed everything up, the manager is a great person and the owners we didn't see much but they seem to be calm, but I really don't recommend it because you will work until 12:00 every day and you won't be able to go out to see anything other than the city which takes you an afternoon to see everything and then you're stuck in the city because you

Unfortunately, I found my time at the guest house and the guest house quite lacking. The hostel is very dirty and has not achieved a basic level of hygiene, particularly in the kitchen. It lacks the resources to complete the job effectively and there is no set standard of cleanliness. I was placed in a room without a lock as the only girl with three older long term guests (men) who were often very drunk. When I advised management that I didn't feel safe sleeping in this room, there was no attempt to remedy the situation. Ntapo was kind but this was not enough for me to stay, I left within days.

This was my first time using the platform, and unfortunately, it didn't go as expected. I chose this place to improve my English, learn about hostel management, and meet new people. Ntapo, the manager, is a very welcoming person, but the hostel turned out to be a refuge for homeless alcoholic individuals during the low season. I became concerned for my safety and health, with no real opportunity to develop the skills I was interested in. Ntapo was very understanding of my decision to leave early. I thank him for the opportunity and wish him all the best.

Cashel was my first volunteer experience, Ntapo was always incredibly kind and welcoming, making me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived. The other volunteers were amazing, they were friendly, supportive, and we all worked well together. The teamwork was one of the highlights of my stay. The work itself was easy, with tasks like housekeeping, reception, and ironing. Overall, it was a wonderful start to my volunteering journey, and I couldn't have asked for better people to share it with.
