Natural construction and eco-project, starting from September!

The Exchange

Hi! We are a couple, Alexandra and I, both in our 30's. We did a lot of woofing around the world but now we decided to settle down and create our own project! We just brought the land of our dreams. A little piece of heaven (about 5000m2) holding the foundations of an old village of the 14th century which we intend to restore and improve (see photos). Help is welcome rebuilding dry stone walls, building yurts and tepees, landscaping, gardening!

Program Details

Long hours will be dedicated to gardening: growing vegetables, fruit picking and landscaping... lots of weeds to get rid of! Also, those who are interested in old stones can help us rebuilding dry stone walls (learning the original techniques). Hiking and discovering the surroundings and learning about the history of Les Cévennes and Les Camisars are part of the program! However, at the moment as we are just starting, you will be helping us reconditioning the 1km of track so we can access to the land with a car. And also setting up the tent-yurt as well as cleaning up the land.

Activities & Shift

So, for now, the shifts are about:

• reconditioning a nasty road track made of mud so we can access to it with a car (this is not easy but it is essential)

• setting-up a tent-yurt which is made up of 500kg of materials in littles pieces (kind of like a game of Lego!)

• cleaning up the land from all the weeds

Rules

We expect people to highly respect the place and respect others. Drinking/smoking is totally allowed as far as you keep yourself plainly lucid! You also need to be a conscientious worker with strength and enthusiasm.
