Permaculture and Yoga Volunteer program in Portugal


The Exchange

Volunteers will be expected to participate for 5-6 hours per day, 5 days per week doing various tasks to assist our permaculture internships, courses and retreats. Cooking & Cleaning General Farm help Manual Labor During weekends all guests have free time but will cook on rotation. You will get some free yoga classes and experience living within an off-grid permaculture community


What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Handyman: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

2 days off per week

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.


Requirements

Intermediate English

Accepts solo applications and also couples and pairs


What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

We have set start dates so all volunteers and permaculture interns start on the same day. This way everyone settles in together better.
Dates and Focus around the farm:
7th, & 21st January - Reforestation, fencing, planting trees & forest management. We also need to finish our straw bale greenhouse (as this is low season we should have a caravan for you)
4th & 18th February, 3rd, 17th & 31st March - Preparing for planting summer vegetables, working in our food forests
Spring 2020: 14 & 28th April, 12th & 26th May - Planting our summer vegetables
Summer 2020: 9th & 23rd June - Managing the farm
7th & 21st July, 4th August  - NaturalBuilding


Activities & Shift

8am - Attend yoga or make breakfast
9am - breakfast
10am - 11am harvesting food from the gardens, weeding, cleaning
11am - 1pm - helping prepare lunch
1pm - 2pm lunch
2pm - 4pm clean up lunch and then work on a project outside or help prepare for market day
5pm onwards free time.
you will cook dinner on rotation with the interns, so maybe once per week. Plus on rotation with interns at the weekend
