Learning & Fun

The experience at Nozaru was very good. Be prepared to work in any and all activities you may have in a hotel, including organization and cleaning of rooms and common areas, hall, restrooms, hot spring, sidewalks, trash removal and everything else, including activities in other apartments rented by the host. Activities can be divided among other people or carried out on alone. The food served is of a lot of quality, the hostess prepares a traditional Japanese food and the staffs (we) take turns preparing too. All expenses with food and drinks (sometimes beer) are on behalf of the host.

First of all, I am thankful to Morita-san because I learned many things while doing my first volunteer in Japan. This place is big and really traditional so if you want to experience some local interaction and a real ryokan, I highly recommend it!
I enjoyed good food made by Morita-san. I also did many different tasks but my favourite was the reception time, so if you know Japanese that's better because you can learn more from it. I was so happy because I made some good friends here, so I hope everyone can experience and spend some time in Nozaru!

Hi Yezz-san. Thank you very much for your great help. Deeply appreciate your beautiful comment, sorry takes so long to reply.
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed facility, good, work and people.
You pay attention to details to keep the room clean, but also is an honors staff, capable of speaking and reading Japanese/English, so manages room allocation with Japanese/English web site, send back messages, and also serve Japanese/Foreign customer. Since you are so much capable of and has high responsibility, could be dependent multi tasks on and very much reliable.
Your leaning attitude is really respectful. I believe the way you see the world truly reflect yourself, so your positive attitude brings you good things!

Host - Anna is very kind, nice, and knowledgeable of fun activities and locations to visit while in the immediate area. However, during the hours of work, the description may say household chores & admin, but be prepared for ANY & ALL work request.

Hostel - There is access to the onsen (hot springs) on site and the public ones in near walking distance if you request the key. The meals provided you cook yourself.

Overall - The experience was not exactly what I expected but I partially attribute that to it being winter. Great for young adults. I suggest staying no more than 1 week.

Hi Keith-san. Thank you very much for your help and good comment. Sorry have not noticed message.
Running hostel requires various kinds of work depends on the day, and cooking in turn gives various menu and cultural exchange, hope you enjoyed it.
Seems like some helper like to change places and does not want to stay long in country side while some helpers do not want to move a lot, prefer to stay one place, relax and enjoy nature rather than traveling around.
Take good care of yourself, feel free to visit again someday!
