Learning & Fun

If you are a lover of nature, warm baths and traditional Japanese style, I totally reccommend this experience. The village is surrounded by temples and mountains, and there's onsen everywhere for you to enjoy the super warm bath. The hostel is very traditional, so you would be able to actually feel that you are in a completely different world if, like me, you come form a pretty distinct country. Anna was very open to share, teach and learn different cultural aspects from each of our backgrounds. She also cooked a lot of delicious Japanese dishes!
Enjoy your stay and make some monkey friends!

It was a good opportunity to see how the Onsen hostels operates and how to maintain it behind the curtains.
The job itself was easy to understand but difficult to execute. the location was great not so far from the Snow Monkey mountain (you have to visit the monkeys while you are there, entrance fee 600-800 yen).
the host Anna was so nice to us she provided us with everything we need.
also we become friends with 3 other volunteers from different parts of the world and it was so fun to spend the time together with them ^^.

Great time in this hostel despite the lack of organization from Anna.
The place and the hostel are very relaxing

The experience was good, Anna is very kind and fulfilled everything offered. However, the place is quite large and there are very messy and dirty areas. There are no employees, only she and the volunteers, so make sure there will be more volunteers when you want to go, we were two and sometimes there was a lot of work. The balance is very positive, Anna cooked us lunch and dinner, typical Japanese food, and we could use everything the onsen that the hostel owns.

United States

The experience in Nozaru for being my first volunteer has been very good. Anna is a very good host and an excellent person. I recommend consulting if there will be other volunteers before applying since sometimes the work is to much. Anna is a great cook and all the noons and at night she surprised us with very rich Japanese typical dishes. Go prepared to work, the hostel is old and there is a lot to do! Best of all, you have the onsen 24 hours. available!
