Playworking - Active Coliving and Coworking Community

Montenegro is a beautiful country with stunning mountainous vistas and an incredible coastline. Playworking is a coliving retreat with an added layer of adventure sports activities. The facilities consist of coworking space, comfortable rooms and common living spaces including terraces and balconies.

I guess our ethos is what you would expect of people who enjoy the outdoors and the company of travelers. We're respectful, interested and creative.

Playworking was such a great experiment for me. At first, I thought that 1 months in the same place would be long, but it went so fast. I was able to meet incredible people and explore the true beauty of Montenegro. I learned to be very autonomous since Jeffrey won’t tell you what to do. Finally, what I liked the most was that there were no barriers between the guest and volunteers, and everyone had fun together.
Thank you Jeffrey for this wonderful experience:)

My experience at Playworking was amazing. It was truly a home away from home! Our time there was friendly and sweet. I suggest planning on renting a car since things are pretty far by walk, but really close by car.

Volunteering at Playworking was one of the best experiences of my life, and I would definitely return. You have enough flexibility with your tasks and day-to-day to be able to explore Montenegro and/or coordinate with your own personal projects. You can meet people from everywhere in a chill environment and take part in community activities, while having your own space, a food allowance, and laundry. Jeffrey is a good person and always willing to help, the common spaces are well kept, and the work is not demanding. This was the perfect first volunteer experience.

I had a great time working at playworking for six weeks from Feb to mid March. Most of the work was described as "taking our own initiative" to find work that needs done. That never was an issue for me but I feel it could have been explained better before my experience. I would also like to add, this position works best with problem solving workers and requires a lot of solutions to constantly arising snags. This experience is also great for outdoor people and dog lovers to look after Brownie :)

My experience at Playworking wasn’t the most comfortable stay for a solo-female traveller. I felt incredibly objectified and patronized while I was there. The tone and a lot of comments made not only to myself but all of the volunteers in my stay, I would consider bullying and harassment. It is also heavily implied that we would be able to SUP board; there were plenty of beautiful days to do it where the water was nice and not too cold but we were denied the opportunity. Playworking could also benefit from a set schedule and a better outline of tasks needed to be done.

Kiana, it's very hard to know how to respond. The dynamics between you, me and that cohort of volunteers was difficult and inexplicable. I tried to dispel all the notions that you, Lumi and Augustin developed to no avail, and then surrendered. I agree that there needs to be a schedule however I ask the volunteers to create it, and to assess what needs to be done to prepare the house for the new season. Finally, it is still too cold to paddleboard, and we are not taking either volunteers or paying clients on the water as I consider it unsafe.
