Aspire School & Homestay !

Welcome to ASPIRE School & Homestay!

Volunteers that choose to help ASPIRE can expect a wholesome and rewarding experience. Volunteering at ASPIRE school will also allow you to be immersed in local Cambodian culture. If you look at our photo gallery, you can see various activities that the children enjoyed with our past volunteers. These activities have been created by voluntary teachers, many of whom have given their time and resources, adding to the opportunities we can offer our children, such as Khmer traditional dance, music instruments, and other school activities. We also welcome people from all backgrounds regardless whether you are fluent in English or not. This is also a great place to volunteer as a group as we provide housing for multiple guests.

ASPIRE School and Homestay to help for poor, homeless and orphans, is located 7kms to the east of the center of Siem Reap, on National Road 6 in Trang Village. ASPIRE is a non-governmental, non-profit organization aimed to assist children who are either orphaned, homeless, in poverty or have disabilities. We try to offer free education to children, especially destitute families throughout Cambodia . Cambodia suffered greatly during the Khmer Rouge and genocide (1975 - 1979) this totally decimated the population, many of the remaining population being left homeless, without food and shelter. Since then Cambodia has been slowly developing. However even now, work is not plentiful here so a lot of people leave to work outside the country or in areas where they cannot take their children. These children would be homeless if it was not for organizations such as Aspire school. We are providing 24 hour care for 20 of the 100 children from extreme poverty families in Siem Reap, free education for all the children. They range in age between 5 to 16 years old. This is an ongoing project to support and educate children, with the goal to increase our care and education for the growing number that need our help, therefore the financial aid / support is very important and necessary especially now as the cost of living has increased. We ask for your help, which can be given by:- volunteering to work with the children, fundraising (also please feel free to discuss your fundraising ideas with us), building materials (to continue the construction of classrooms), monetary donations (to cover daily living and also reduce the loan amounts, financial reports are available on request) All donations of any amount are received with gratitude. (receipts issued) Remember with your help, these children can have a brighter future and we are proud to share that some of the older children have been able to go onto University thanks to the help of supporters and sponsors. We accept all volunteers as one of our own and we treat everyone as part of our family. As a volunteer, you will be assisting the school teacher to teach English to the children. However, you are more than welcome to teach them other cool hobbies as well. If you are interested for volunteering with our program, donating,or fundraising, please contact us. Contact details are at the end of this page. Aspire Home Stay guesthouse is safe and comfortable, we ask a volunteer to contribute $15 US per day for accommodation and food as food we are cooking for the children. You can also order delicious food, we will charge 10 USD per day for 3 meals (breakfast with hot coffee, lunch and dinner). Sean and his family were really welcoming and great people to stay a week with. Sean even took me to his hometown to meet his family. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Siem real

Our experience was a once in a life time. This is the only time in our travels where we truly felt immersed into local life and was able to make a difference. All the children are the sweetest, kindest souls and are so happy to see you. Sean is so welcoming and his wife cooked the best meals, for us. We also got to make good friendships with other volunteers. Be prepared to start teaching straight away, it can seem scary at first and it will be normal to feel like you don’t know what your doing but you will learn and grow and feel confident by the end. Thank you so much :)

Volunteering at Aspire was truly an amazing experience! Sean is very welcoming and the kids are amazing. I really got to know the students and kids living at Aspire and learned so much about what it is really like to live there. It was really rewarding to be able to see the children’s English slowly progress. By the end it was hard to say goodbye to the kids, but I hope that I will be able to come back again in the future!

I had the most amazing time volunteering at the Aspire school and Homestay! I believe I really got to connect with the kids, learn about their culture and their addictive personalities:) What really made this experience unforgettable was the gratefulness of people, the joy and sense of community we were immersed in.
I also learnt a lot about teaching young kids. Even if I was only there for two weeks, I could already tell a small but noticeable change in their English level. Although we were given a few pointers we still got freedom to use our personal teaching methods!:)

I am very grateful to have lived this experience! As an 18 years old girl, it was my first time volunteering this long and far away from home and obviously, I was a bit scared to get out of my comfort zone before coming to Cambodia. But, I can definitely say that I felt very welcomed as soon as I arrived at Aspire. The kids are AMAZING and loving, they are so affectionate and very curious about life. They are full of energy and will spend a lot of time with you. The teaching was quite physical aha with the little ones but still very interesting.
I really felt like being part of a big family.❤️
