I had a really good time in Opus Gothique. Donald and Sam’s spirit will always encourage me in my life.
The volunteers I met there are also wonderful. They are so friendly and supportive. Even though some jobs were physically demanding, girls were so powerful and did very well. I am so proud of ourselves. I also very enjoyed our lunch time every day. It was like a world food festival. We introduced our culture through food and learn from each other.
Countryside life is very simple but wonderful. The toilet and shower are separated and not very convenient, but it’s not a big problem.

I thorougly enjoyed my time at Opus Gothique, an unforgettable experience. Sam, Jim and Donald did an excellent job being there for us and creating a lovely atmosphere. The tasks were diverse. As the construction season for the Gothic building came to an end, we did many other tasks. Surrounded by beautiful nature, a fantastic group of volunteers with whom the cooperation was fantastic and I had a lot of fun. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this beautiful project.

An unforgettable experience! From the day I arrived, I was in awe of Donald’s creation and his persistence in following his passion each day, despite his age! Words aren't enough to fully describe how incredible Sam is, and Jim has so much knowledge and experience to share! I met the best volunteers I could imagine, and thanks to everyone’s kindness and generosity, we had the best time at this beautiful site! It’s an opportunity for everyone to get inspired and challenge themselves in many different ways— a safe place to grow for anyone who is still wandering. Totally recommend!

Mi tiempo en OPUS ha sido un mes increíble. Aunque no trabajamos en el edificio gótico propiamente debido a las fechas y a la organización del proyecto, todas las tareas que realizamos fueron por y para ayudar al futuro de toda la construcción. De verdad le agradezco a Sam, a Jim y a Donald por hacer todo lo que hacen con cariño y con las mejores intenciones. Para los futuros voluntarios, les recomiendo ir preparados para conocer personas maravillosas y hacer parte de un proyecto increíble que va a dejar una huella por muchos años.

It was great fun meeting the other volunteers and listening to Sam and Donald’s stories. I definitely made some good memories in the canteen eating meals together and learning a few words in other languages. I expected to be working more on the stone building but we managed to be quite productive in other tasks.
We built a shed, stacked firewood, and moved rocks for further work on the main project.
We also had a chance to help run errands and enjoy a day trip away from work.
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to contribute to a project in a small way and meet other travelers
