ChildAid and Youth Development Network (CAYDNET)
CAYDNET is a registered Relief and Development Not for profit Charity non-governmental organisation. (NGO), established in 2005 with Social Welfare charity certificate D.S.W./2817. It is based at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana and covers Akim Achiase, Birim South and Central districts with its operations.
It works directly with any volunteer or group of volunteers wanted to partner or work with CAYDNET in Ghana. CAYDNET is not an agency that charges volunteers for placement with free accommodation.
CAYDNET works as a grassroots organisation in our various impoverish and the disadvantaged communities in the Ghana , through enhancing the capacity of the target beneficiaries to identify and address their social, health, economic, cultural and development needs as a tool of poverty alleviation. It also advocates for the inclusion and promotion of the rights of the vulnerable and the disadvantaged categories of the society at all level of development.
The Organisation’s major programs include:
1.Mainstreaming of orphans and vulnerable children into formal education.
Approach and Strategy:
Provision of quality education facilities, from Early Childhood Development to the basic education level.
2.Skills’ training for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and out of school youth.
Approach and Strategy: This is to train and improve the Life skills of this vulnerable group in the society and the youth and thus increase their levels of sustainability.
3.Youth and women empowerment.
Approach and Strategy: To provide them with alternate livelihoods opportunities to better their lot.
4.HIV & AIDS Prevention Education, CT/PMTC services, support and care.
Approach and Strategy: Educate the general populace on HIV and AIDS
5.Elimination of Children engaged in the worst form of child labour by mainstream into formal education and informal Technical and Vocational Education Training(TVET).
We encourage potential volunteer to partner with CAYDNET and visit Ghana for its peaceful nature. Ghana is located in the West Africa sub Saharan and it is described as a gate way to Africa. Very peaceful and stable country found in the African continent where democracy strives.
Accra is the capital town of Ghana. It has never fought a war. Incidents of crime are very low outside of Accra and Kumasi, the two major cities.
There are also many tourist attraction centers in Ghana notable Kakum National parks, Mole Park, crocodiles at Paga, the Monkey sanctuary at Nkronansa and many many more. Interestingly, in the adjoining Municipal are also found the biggest tree in West Africa,
Andrews Acheampong is my name, a native of Akim Oda Community in the eastern region of Ghana.
I am Executive Director of CAYDNET for the past 14 years. Vice Chairman, Birim South African Peer Review Mechanism District Over Sight Committee, (DOC). NGO’s representative for District AIDS Committee (DAC) in the Birim South. Former Project Director, Association of Ghana Organic Farmers, of the United Nation Association of Ghana. (AGOF-UN). Currently, an Executive Director of CAYDNET, Supervising Director of Community Integrated School and the Persons With Disability Skills Training and Rehabilitation Center.(PWD’S -STAR CENTER.).
Without being conceited, l have both excellent writing and communication skills and demonstrated ability of working effectively and harmoniously with colleagues, partners and all staff from varied cultures and professional background in achieving desired goals.
Potential volunteers should expect to have an enjoyable stay, a fair and equal treated, as we have treated over 28 volunteers we have hosted in the years ; 2008, 2010, 2011, 2016 all in Ghana
