Dan Hostel

Dan Hostel is located 2 minutes away from Exit 1 of Ximending Subway Station. The transportation is convenient. We are a single-family building. The interior is designed in industrial style. The whole building has bunk beds. There are many buses here. You can reach Jiufen with one bus. 1- 2 stops to Taipei Main Station.

The manager does not speak English, but is happy to share Chinese learning. Most of the counter staff can speak English and can talk to you. We welcome little helpers. We like to make friends and share the big and small things in life.

I really enjoyed working at the Dan Hostel for two months. The hours and duties are not onerous, consistently mostly of cleaning and changing bedding. As with all places where there is not a common language, sometimes communication can fail, but if you ask for clarification, the staff are pretty good about helping you understand. You have plenty of opportunity to visit the city and surrounding area; the hostel is very conveniently located near a subway station and bus stops, so travel is easy. Overall, this was a good volunteer gig.

I had an amazing time at Dan Hostel!! I stayed there for almost a month and May and the team were so welcoming. As a female volunteer, I stayed on the 4th all female floor and accommodation was very comfortable. The work tasks were mainly making beds, and clean common area/restroom. The work can be more and busy on the weekends but manageable. Location is great and a 3-5 min walk to Ximen Crossing which is great for shopping and food. Overall, I would come back and volunteer here again!

He was a fantastic work exchange member at our hostel! He was always punctual and took his responsibilities seriously. His attention to detail was impressive, and he consistently carried out tasks with care and thoroughness. On top of that, He had a great attitude, was friendly with the team, and contributed positively to our environment. We truly appreciated having him with us.

The hostel is in a perfect location, very close to metro, restaurants and stores. The communication with the boss was a little hard because she did not speak much english but translations apps helped.

the work is pretty much straight forward and you usually finish earlier

Overall a very average experience. The hostel is in a great location and the hostel itself is nice. The work is fairly evenly split between all the volunteers but sometimes it can be way off. I would still recommend coming to Dan hostel for worldpackers as it still makes a great difference with being able to travel to such an awesome city.

Dan hostel was a great volunteering experience! Work hours were very reasonable and allowed you to explore Taipei in depth as there is so much to do here! Location of the hostel is very central in Ximen
