Elong'o Eretoto site

I am the founder and director of this project in my Maasai community here in kisamis kajiado west, and I am very open and honest with my helpers.

This project's objectives are:
1. To rescue girls from early marriages.
2. To finish FGM practices among girls.
3. To help the widows and orphans
4. To construct a jewellery shop for beadwork made by local women and look for an online market for jewellery.
5. DIY project.

I learnt more about the interrelationship between individuals and their environment which encourages social workers to take a holistic view by assessing how individuals affect and are affected by such physical, social, political, and cultural systems.

I have social work skills that I learned from people around me and volunteers that I have hosted so far. They come from many countries, so I've learned that there are vegetarians and those who eat almost everything. So, regardless of where you come from, we are sure we can arrange what you need. I am very willing to teach volunteers the Maasai language, and culture and show them how to make jewellery from beads. I will also take them through experiencing a stay or bonfire 🔥 at night. Apart from personally guiding my volunteers, I have other guides and Moran who are very good at guiding. They walk with volunteers teaching them a lot they meet at hiking and at different environments outside of the project site.

I decided to do this volunteering because of the social impact that I believed it offered, however, its lack of planning doesn’t offer what it says. I didn’t have the chance to meet the rescued girls, didn't do any activity that the profile mentioned and I even got scammed by the host.. I can’t recommend this project.. Despite the bad experience the wife of David is lovable so are the children. But regarding to the project they will only appreciate your financial help not manual and time, if you truly want to make an impact look for something else. I had to leave early because of my safety.

David Nina is a cool person and a very good speaker. He has a great vision and is doing a lot of things for the welfare of his community. He is helping young girls from early child marriages and FGM by rescuing them and building a rescue centre. He is also helping his community by building a hospital which is the basic essential need of the people living there. Apart from the initiatives, he also gave us the experience of the Maasai culture and the authentic Maasai tradition. I liked the place and can't wait to be back soon. I wish good luck to David and his initiative to achieve great heights

Staying with David Nina through Worldpackers was an absolute delight! From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed into their home and their community. David went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable and enriching experience. Their passion for sustainability and cultural exchange is truly inspiring. I learned so much during my stay, not only about the project but also about the local Maasai culture and way of life. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the work was both meaningful and fulfilling.
