Bergen Hostel Montana has launched a social volunteer program where young outgoing, enthusiastic people can volunteer. The volunteer undertakes activities such as: hikes (many...), games, barbecue, cultural kitchen, fishing, sightseeing, coffee (lots of...) and cookies, waffle baking, music - all in the name of cultural exchange and bringing people together. If you and our guests have other splendid ideas, you just bring them on!
We are a truly international staff. The volunteeers can expect to be treated with respect - and fun which will make it beneficial for all of us. The volunteers are NOT undertaking work that are otherwise been done by paid staff (e.g. cleaning etc.). We always have at least two volunteers at the same time.

Bergen Hostel Montana is the perfect place to be a volunteer! The staff really takes care of the volunteers, they're all about making our and the guests lives more fun, they are very welcoming and flexible. The tasks make possible for the volunteers to really work together, choose the activities independently and experience the life in Bergen. I met so many amazing people from all around the world, some friendships were born. It's a perfect place for hiking a lot, get to know Norwegian culture and socialize. Thank you for everything!

Volunteering in Montana is an experience that you have to live! Here you will have the opportunity to meet and bond with many people and create unforgettable memories. Bergen is a beautiful city and there are countless activities you can do in nature. The staff is amazing and so helpful, and you feel comfortable since the moment you get here. Do not even hesitate to apply. 😍

It was amazing! All about this program is for the volunteers. They pay a lot of atention on making everything comfortable and functional for the volunteers.
We had a lot of tasks, such as planning the activities to do with the ghuests, coffee and cookies, cleaning the common kitchen, doing the activity board, post on social media....but it wasn't a problem. The volunteers can organized themselves to divide them. But the most amazing part is to socialize with the ghuest, which they are a lot and they come from all over the world. There are lots of things to do and you are in touch with nature.

This was my first volunteering experience and it was the best thing that could ever happen to me. I would like to start by thanking the people who are working in the hostel for welcoming me from the first moment, I never felt alone. Working here as a volunteer was amazing, I had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and to get to know other cultures and traditions. A special thanks also goes to Baunehytten, my favorite place in the whole world, making waffles in the cabin was awesome!

Camilla has been our volunteer for 6 weeks in HI Bergen Hostel Montana, and It has been a delight to have her during this period. She is very responsible and committed! An outgoing girl, a team player, and super easygoing. Absolutely recommended! Camilla, thank you for everything, our doors will always be open for you :)

Thanks to this volunteering experience, I met hundreds of people and created unforgettable memories! Bergen is a nice city where you can participate in both cultural events and go for a hike on the same weekend with the guests. People who were working at the hostel were kind and helped volunteers when needed. As a volunteer, I could be free to choose the daily activity and be creative if I wanted! Last, but not least, Sunday at Baunehytten making waffles was one of the best things of the week. Thank you Hostel Montana for this opportunity!
