I had a great experience teaching English at school, the hosts are very nice, always making sure you’re comfortable while taking care of.
The kids were lovely and eager to learn , this is a nice experience if you’re looking to immerse yourself in the local culture, the schedule is a bit demanding you need to be at the school from 8am to 5pm and you only teach 3-4 hours with breaks in between ..
Also there’s no many things to do in Poipet so it could be a little bit boring after classes ..
Overall , it was a nice experience

This is my fifth and best Worldpackers experience!! The family running the school are amazing people who took great care of me and made me feel at home. The students at the school are so energetic and kind, it breaks my heart having to say goodbye. You have full control over the class which at first is overwhelming but after a few YouTube videos on how to teach ESL it’s fine. There wasn’t much to do in Poipet but that didn’t matter because I enjoyed the teaching so much. I recommend volunteering with a friend to have some company. I really want to come back and would highly recommend!!

The experience was ok. I was the only volunteer for two weeks and I felt very lonely. The children at school were lovely and so were the teachers. However, my biggest challenge was that I wasn’t given any plan on what to teach or what to do. The classes normally start at 9.15 till 10, then 10.15 to 11, 1pm to 2pm and 3.15 to 4.30pm, but you are required to be at school at 8am and you will leave around 5, so the whole day will be busy with this schedule. There is absolutely nothing to do or visit in the city. I was expecting a totally different experience.

-The hosts are very friendly and make sure you get everything you need. I got sick and they took care of me buying medicines by their own and giving me healthy food.
-The kids are enchanting and smart.
-The city is not really interesting but you can experience local culture (don't expect to find English speakers)
-It's an immersive experience and you need to be responsible to really work, if you're looking for a free place to sleep while you travel that's not for you.
-I missed a didatic sequence to follow. I have a teaching experience so I managed that. But I was happy and fulfilled.
