House of Mark

We seek students or students who have recently completed their degree to apply for one month’s vocational work experience. This is an exciting and interesting opportunity.

Over 400 students have visited House of Mark who tell us they have loved being here, many return. We arrange reunions all over the world, students visit other students from all over the world.

House of Mark, is a fabulous guest house nestling amongst the glens. Formerly a manse, open all year and set within two acres at the foot of the Cairngorms National Park. House of Mark also has a self-catering cottage (House of Mark Cottage) and hostel accommodation is coming soon. The work required is very varied and you will have time to visit other parts of Scotland during your time here. The chores would consist mainly of helping with every aspect of running a guests’ house and maintain the guest satisfaction. Housekeeping is the main workload and we are quite fastidious in cleanliness. Apart from all the household chores, we have a dog who loves nothing more than being walked. So we hope you are an animal lover? We also have a large garden and gardening is always on the agenda. Help in this department is never refused.

Priscecil and Ian are wonderful people who can help you with everything and you will feel like at home. The landscape is breathtaking. This place is just wonderful. I totally recomend this experience.

My stay at House of Mark was "short" , compared to my previous experiences, but I really liked it and enjoyed it. Priscecil is a sweet person and Ian is always willing to give you a hand if you need it. The place is beautiful and comfortable. You will for sure fall in love with the surroundings. Thank you, Priscecil and Ian, for giving me the opportunity to work with you for the wedding - we staff even got to dance at the wedding party with guests ;)

It's very rewarding and unforgettable. In short, the works are all about running a guest house, tasks like feeding chicken and picking up warm organic eggs, lighting wood fire for rooms, making bread, were just eye opening to us. Also, in Cairngorms National Park, breath-taking rainbows, galaxy, lakes, deer, are the best gift and simply a peace of mind to us.

Ian is a good friend and mentor to us. He is hardworking, talented, humorous, and inspiring. He is very rich, because he has a kind heart always wanted to help others. We are so grateful for all these.

House of mark was amazing!
This beautiful place offered me and all the students the opportunity to learn, have fun and get to know a part of Scotland with incredible landscapes. Ian, a funny and knowledgeable man, always worried about making us have a good time. Here I learned a lot with the exterior and interior tasks because there is always something different to do. The bike rides, hiking and walking with lola (dog) made my stay in angus very pleasant. No doubt an experience that I would repeat.
