Not only are we located at the heart of London but we are very close to all the most famous tourist sites and they are all within a walking distance from each other. You will get to explore London without the hassle of travel. With fourteen hostels across the city, LHA is the perfect place to start your new adventure. For 80 years, LHA have provided young people and students long-term, co-living accommodation they love, and can afford. Here, you can familiarise yourself, socialise and decide whether or not to make London your permanent home.

Staying at torquay house was amazing, the volunteer room is very big and has all the facilities that you need! It’s close to a tube station, the location is good and Laura and aelsa are very kind and helpful! You have plenty of time to explore London.

I want to thank Laura, Wilsa, Marrie, and Anton for being kind and attentive, but I have some concerns to share. My shared room was really messy, had a bad smell, and the bathroom was terrible. Task distribution was also unbalanced, with one person receiving a short task for the whole day, while others had four. I mentioned this specific case to the supervisor, but nothing changed. This caused workload disparity and some volunteers to feel disheartened. Despite these issues, I had a positive experience and met kind people. I hope that my feedback helps to improve future volunteer experiences.

We are glad to hear that you have a positive experience at Torquay House.
And thank you for your feedback, as we love hearing different points of view from our volunteers to provide a more rewarding experience for the present and future participants. But unfortunately, this time the management team didn't hear any complaints coming from you.
But thanks to your review we decided to create a cleaning rota in the boys' room to keep track of the cleaning. As the volunteers are the ones responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their rooms.
Regarding the cleaning tasks, all the housekeeping volunteers need to volunteer for 20 per week, normally dived in 5 days, 4h per day, with 2 days off in a row. But in exceptional circumstances, we adapt the timetable to the volunteers' needs. In the case that you mentioned, that volunteer was working more days during the week but fewer hours per day.

It was my first exchange and how lucky I was to have been in this incredible place. The hosts care about you, they show interest in making you feel welcome. They were very patient with my English, my room was spacious, very well structured with a kitchen, closets, bathroom, in addition to the entire structure of the building. Thank you so much Torquay House it was very special.
