San Marino Bakery

Our project is unique as we are giving both training to staff and selling our baked products but also supplying bread rather than money donations on a daily basis. We work to empower vulnerable people within our local community by helping them to start their own business as an ambulent bread seller. We also run an adjacent agricultural project enabling 40 families to grow their own vegetables to feed themselves and sell the excess.

We have 19 staff who are all zambian locals and 2 volenteers. We work as a team and there is very much a family feeling . One of the volenteers is myself, I am english and Italian speaking and have been running the project for Carità Senza Confini since 2019.

Our time at San Marino Bakery was truly an enjoyable experience. We were given a private room that was clean, had a comfortable bed, and lovely ensuite bathroom all to ourselves. The meals provided were delicious and nutritious and Michelle always asked us what we enjoyed eating then went ahead and prepared those things for us. The staff at the bakery were all kind, friendly and welcoming. We made some amazing connections with some of the staff at the bakery and hope to reconnect someday in the future. Overall, I would highly recommend San Marino Bakery! Thank you, Michelle ❤️
