Shelby Farms Stables

Volunteers will stay at our home in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis has long been known to be the birthplace of music in America. There are lots of adventures and places to explore in the area. At the stables where you will be working it is located within a 4,500 acre park that has 40 miles of hiking and biking trails. It also has kayaking and boating. We have a swimming pool at the house, plenty of games and all the streaming tv channels. You will love the Memphis area with its great food, music scene and so many things to do. Of course you will get to ride horses a lot! Please note, we only accept those who can stay a minimum of 4 weeks.

I have been involved with and worked with horses all my life. Our staff of 18 employees and volunteers are all passionate about horses. We have a lot of fun with our work and love introducing our customers to the horse riding experience. We are more like a family than co- workers. You will find that our staff will all be anxious to help show and share with you Memphis and all it has to offer.

This experience was my first time volunteering with Worldpackers and I can say that I am more than happy. I felt really comfortable at the house and at the stable. The horses live in amazing conditions and the work is really fair with various tasks outdoors.
The other volunteers are going to help you and take great care of you.

I spend a fabulous time, that was my first Worldpackers experience and I really enjoyed to work with horses and a super team.
I met fantastic people from everywhere and did a lot of fun activities with them.
The accommodation is perfect.
I would like to say a big thank you to Joan, Eric and Alicia for the welcoming, kindness and making sure everybody is going well.

I had the best time ever at the Shelly farms stables. I met a lot of local and international volunteers that were so nice and welcoming. I truly enjoyed Working all together with the horses and customers. You can learn a lot from the experience of the other volunteers. All of them were so nice and helpful.A big thank you to Joan, Eric and Alicia for making sure everyone has a great time. I can ensure you will have the best time there if you choose to volunteer at the Shelby farms stables.

I would absolutely recommend coming to Shelby Farms Stables!!
This was my first Worldpackers experience and I absolutely loved it!
Eric and Joan are very attentive hosts and always try to make sure you have the very best experience possible. Both the living and work conditions are fantastic and there is plenty of opportunity to learn and work with the horses.
The horse’s are kept in great condition, they are well fed and well looked after.
Whether you have a lot of horse experience or only a little you will love this place!

I don‘t even know where to start! This was my first workexchange experience and I loved every second about it! Working at the stables actually never felt like work because I loved every second! Eric is an amazing and extremely funny host! He really wants everyone to feel comfortable and it felt like home to me. I even extended my stay from 4 to 6 weeks and even after that, I did not want to leave. I highly recommend staying at Eric‘s place! If you have experience with horses and if you love interacting with people (and his dog Bella), then I recommend his place a 1000%. Can‘t wait to be back!!
