We welcome travelers who want to make a difference in the lives of llamas or alpacas that have been rescued. It is an opportunity to do good while learning about these wonderful animals. You can explore the hill country of Texas in your off hours.

We delight in getting to know volunteers and their cultures from all over the world. We tailor projects to the talents volunteers may have as there are many projects to choose from. We respect the privacy of volunteers by having lodging in a separate cabin. We choose vegetarian meals based on the preferences of volunteers.

I had a great experience at Southwest Llama Rescue Foster Farm, I met amazing people, I felt like family, it is definitely one of the best experiences in my life, I will miss that place and the wonderful people that work there.

Our stay was wonderful. We were really able to understand the reasons why llamas and alpacas come to the shelter. Mrs. Baxter is a kind, patient and very special woman. We had a new experience with dry toilets and discovered that it's an interesting and viable alternative for environmental care and water saving. Our cat Baby Jelly loved the place, because he was able to explore a lot and be surrounded by nature. We were able to see spectacular sunsets and a starry sky that we'll not forget. The peace of refuge is unparalleled. Llamas and alpacas are treated with love and responsibility.

What a lovely time we had together, working, eating, talking. Your meals were wonderful and sustaining our souls. We were pleased to have a talented, loving couple to help at the llama refuge. We managed to work and get to know one another. I do hope they come back to volunteer or visit.

The people I met here are lovely, if you are looking for a peaceful place with contact with nature and beautiful, docile llamas, this is the perfect place. You need to treat them well and respect their schedules, animals have a routine and you need to follow it. I would come back here again!

As pessoas que encontrei aqui são adoráveis, se vc busca um lugar tranquilo e com contato com a natureza e lindas e dóceis llamas, esse é o lugar perfeito. Precisa tratá-las bem e respeitar seus horários, animais tem uma rotina e vc precisa seguir isso. Eu voltaria aqui outras vezes!

We had such a good experience getting to know Elizete. We hope she comes back to volunteer with us. She is a delightful person, with an interesting life and all the while doing good. She is a wonderful cook and fed our body and souls with food prepared with love and talent. The animals related to her patience and skill.
