The Mahjong Hostel

We are a small hostel in a local neighbourhood. We are excited to share local culture and experience with travellers from everywhere. We also involve in different green projects like recycling, up-cycling and green movie screening. We got some hostel awards and keep a high rating since we opened 4 years ago.

Our hostel is ran by a group of people who like travelling but at the same time proud of Hong Kong culture. We are looking for people they are flexible, easy-going, open-minded and hardworking. As we are a small hostel, everyone here like family. We hope you will love our neighbourhood, love our hostel and treat it like your home.

I could not have asked for a better worldpackers experience. I immediately felt welcomed and part of the team, everyone at Mahjong was incredibly nice and always ready to help in any way. I worked the late shift at the reception, which starts at 11pm, and do any late check-in. Very easy work, most of the time only 1-2 hours, and it was perfect to spend the entire day visiting Hong-Kong. The hostel has a lounge area so it's ideal to meet a lot of travellers and to chill. Don't hesitate to volunteer at this hostel, you won't regret it!
I understand why a lot of volunteers want to go back.

My stay at Making Hotel was incredible!
The staff made everything so easy, always ready to help with any request. Their warm and professional service made me feel at home. Plus, the hotel’s strategic location made getting around super convenient. I highly recommend it for a volunteering experience!

My experience in Mahjong was amazing, Iris the host is so friendly and helpful. I had planty time to explore Hong-Kong and do some hikings. The staff are nice people, I had a great time there and recomend for sure.

I had a beautiful experience at The Mahjong! The work was simple and easy and the staff was so friendly and understanding. I learned so much about Hong Kong’s culture and met a lot of great friends, locals and travelers. I highly recommend this experience or just coming to the hostel as a guest! I also love how passionate the hostel is about recycling and the environment!
