Tofino Hostel - Whalers On The Point Guesthouse

We are an award-winning, family-friendly, mid-size guesthouse/hostel in beautiful Tofino - on the Westcoast of Canada. We focus on providing a family oriented and laid back environment where guests can relax and meet fellow travelers from Canada and all around the world. Our hostel is the perfect spot for exploring the Tofino/ Clayoquot Sound area. We are located on the water right in downtown Tofino with breath-taking (one million dollar!) views of Clayoquot Sound and the 5,000-year-old village of Opitsat, a community of the Tla-o-qui-aht people and Nuu-chah-nulth nation. We also take great pride in providing a green friendly guesthouse/hostel - we recycle, compost and strive to use sustainable cleaning products whenever possible.

We are a small, family-like team from all around the world (all in our mid-twenties to mid/end thirties). We are NOT (!) a party place. We are the perfect spot to meet people interested in the outdoors, nature, culture and all the beautiful things Tofino and this part of Vancouver Island has to offer. We are looking for friendly, mature and respectful volunteers to join us here in Tofino.

Tofino Hostel was my first Worldpackers experience and it didn’t disappoint. Amazing location with an abundance of nature and wildlife around.

The work for stay arrangement is fair, mainly housework (4 hours a day, 5 days a week) and some maintenance bits and pieces.

Tofino is a beautiful little town with a super welcoming community, but come prepared for wet weather!

Had a whale of a time. The permanent staff were very welcoming to the volunteers. Great community feeling. Made many good friends!
The hostel is so cozy with beautiful harbour views. Volunteers have their own room which could sleep 6 but was never full.
The work is easy cleaning tasks, the supervisors train you well to be efficient.
Would recommend this work exchange for anyone who loves the great outdoors! Note: the cost of living in Tofino is quite expensive.

I had a great time at the Whalers on the Point Guesthouse in Tofino. Work was manageable and hours were respected, and the community of staff and volunteers is very fun and welcoming. The hostel is centrally located, and the hostel provides free bikes, so it's easy to get around Tofino without a car.

I had an amazing experience at the hostel. All the staff where welcoming and inclusive, the hostel is extremely well kept. The work is simple and easy a good time to chat to other volunteers and staff or listen to a podcast while you work. Its a relaxing, adventurous and social place to be. I would highly recommend.

We would highly recommend Chloe for any kind of housekeeping, gardening tasks. She was hard working, used her initiative and was a team player whilst she was at the hostel. No task was too much and she always helped out with a smile on her face. We would welcome Chloe back any time.

Tofino will always have a special place in my heart now! The staff, volunteers and guests helped make this trip memorable, everyone was very welcoming and they made sure I was comfortable in the new environment before starting to volunteer. Highly recommended!!
