Tromso Activities Hostel

We`re a great way to get to know Tromso. There is no expectation of our volunteers to work many hours, but rather to be a part of the community. A lot of the time we like to work on projects such as art, photography or carpenting of some kind. We also love to do small hikes, and there is many opportunities to do that. Many of the volunteers from the hostel still live in Tromso and often come by to say hi.

The hostel was started by me (Robin) and some family members. We have a hostel dog called Burger who loves to be scratched on the back and to lick faces. We like to go on daytrips sometimes in the region around Tromso, or to go out to a bar nearby.

Volunteering at Tromsø Activities Hostel was an unforgettable experience! The work was easy, usually done in less than 2 hours, making it perfect for those with other jobs. The hostel has incredible good vibes, and, with more than 10 volunteers plus the friendly guests there was always someone to hang out with. Also it’s perfectly located on the main street, with a supermarket right across. The volunteers’ house was warm and cozy, though the kitchen and bathrooms could use some upgrades. Winter in Tromsø is truly magical, but also left me wanting to come back in summer. Highly recommend!

I wanted to express how much I enjoyed my experience and time spent here. The owners have been incredibly kind and always open to discussing and resolving any questions or concerns. It was truly rewarding to work for them and to contribute to building the volunteer house. I feel like I have left a piece of myself in this place, and I would love to return someday if the opportunity arises.
Thank you for everything, it has been an unforgettable experience.

This was my first time as a solo traveler and first volunteering experience! It was just the thing I needed to get out of my comfort zone and forget about my problems!

Naoko and Robin are really nice and caring hosts, they helped with everything we needed as volunteers. The working hours are really flexible and not demanding, if there was any problem you could talk with Naoko to try and solve it!

Tromsø is really a magical city, it has everything you could want, nature, mountains, beaches, late night party and more…

And the best boy BURGER, lovely dog <3

Volunteering at Tromsø Activities for almost a month was a fantastic experience. The hostel is a cozy and lively place for people from around the world to meet and share good times, in the city center, which has a very special magic. Burger is the nicest and loveliest dog, and I was lucky to coincide with a big group of volunteers, with whom we made a great team and strong friendship. Robin and Naoko are so welcoming and flexible, always considering everyone's needs and preferences when organizing tasks, which are very diverse and dynamic. Thank you for everything, I definitely recommend it!💛

This hostel is a home for people who wants to make new memories about the artic, nature, and have amazing moments with lovely people. You will meet burguer, the most beautiful hostel’s guide🐶 who is always open for a walk.
