Wisdom School

Our School is located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The vision of our school is to help the students grow both in gaining a high level of English and in life skill. Moreover, we educate them to know about virtues, social awareness, environment, leadership and also to develop the inner moral quality which is within us.

However, the school is looking for more volunteers to join and be parts of us to impact on Cambodian students. The volunteers can share about experience, culture, teaching English, workshop and so on. The students here are very friendly and adorable, and they also like to communicate with the foreigners as well. Each volunteers will be required to teach a maximum of 6 hours per day from Monday to Thursday.

- 30 minutes is for lesson planning and for others

TIME COMMITMENT It's required for volunteers to commit to stay with us for at least a month or more. Once you arrive here, you might apply for a tourist visa but you can apply for a business visa if you wish to stay longer. If you stay for 3 months or longer, then we will cover the cost of extending your visa. VOLUNTEER ROLE: Volunteering roles include teaching English, and supporting roles to help in other ways, such as updating the website/social media profiles or help with administration. (From time to time volunteers can also help with improving the school by gardening or decorating, etc). TEACHING ENGLISH: KIDS: No teaching experience is required, just a good standard of English and enthusiasm to help the kids. You have to follow the school curriculum. Lessons include playing educational games, role-playing, doing sports, singing songs, drawing simple pictures, taking part in social and cultural activities, and any other ideas you have or add on. There are books and materials available to follow from the school. The local teacher will be with you to assist and accompany in class in order to teach the kids cooperatively and more effectively . ADULTS: The volunteers can teach the students English and help with the practice. There is a textbook for you to follow, but you also can help with: - Correcting the students' pronunciation - Teaching English videos with the subtitles - Reading skill - Public speaking - The volunteers can guide them to discuss, consult, debate, and share the ideas to each other. - Educational Game - Workshop with the students + Accommodation HOURS OF VOLUNTEERING: We ask our volunteers to help for 6 hours per day from Monday to Friday, so there's plenty of free time, and every weekend free, to explore all that Phnom Penh has to offer. ACCOMMODATION: You will stay in the school and the rooms are clean and tidy with fans, there is a western restroom and a kitchen complete with cooker ring & fridge/freezer.There is a nearby market as well as local shops just across the school. FOOD AND ALLOWANCE: We will provide an allowance $ 20 per week and also provide lunch and dinner for all the volunteers in Mr. Sarath's restaurant from Monday to Saturday and you can try different kinds of Cambodian foods. Volunteers also can buy food at the local market which is only a short walk away, and cook for themselves. INTERNET: There is internet available 24 hours a day at the school. For mobile data, local SIM cards are cheap and easy to use and available everywhere. GETTING HERE: The volunteers need to send us a message and tell us the exact date of arrival and the amount of time (Days, Weeks, Months) you are able to stay with us. You might apply either a tourist or an economic visa. In Cambodia, the visa is very easy be extended. We will pick you up from Phnom Penh airport. Our school is located next to the National road. Moreover, please tell us your Email address and then we will send you the folders which related with the programs and some instructions in more detail. + What else... As a volunteer, your free time is on your own. There are resorts nearby and you can get to the swimming pool for 3$. We are located 10 kilometers from Phnom Penh center. it's accessible by local tuk-tuk or motor-taxi for about 5$ one way. Phnom Penh has good sightseeing attractions, great food and a lively nightlife. This is more than a job; it's an experience. We suggest you do your research on Cambodia - it has a rich cultural heritage and the people are friendly and welcoming.
