We need our volunteers to be comfortable around dogs, genuine dog people who have at least a basic understanding of dog behaviour. We need people who aren't afraid to get their hands (and clothes) dirty, who are team players and above anything have initiative and common sense to solve problems. You will mostly be trained and briefed by other volunteers, we expect a willingness to work alone but also in a team, you should be enthusiastic and committed to the care of the dogs.
Extra hours may be requested if we are short of people. Please understand that work with animals at a rescue can be emotionally draining at times but is an incredibly rewarding experience leave a lasting impression on you and the dogs you care for.
Atividades & Turnos
You will be required to help half a day, with the other half of the day free, 6 days a week with one full day off per week.
*For example if you work the morning shift you would then have the full afternoon free and vise versa. *
We change between these shifts so all volunteers get an equal amount mornings and afternoons ON and OFF shift. We have found this is a good balance of free time and time spent with the dogs. Volunteers will organise amongst themselves a weekly shift timetable. The shifts are shared equally, with a minimum 2 people per shift, morning and afternoon. We try organise shifts a week ahead of time so volunteers can make the most of their free time here on the island.
No drugs or alcohol allowed while one shift with the dogs. NO smoking inside the house. No sitting around on your phone while on shift.
