A experiência

We are landscaping a piece of land in Governors Bay where we want to build our home.
We are aiming to be quite self sufficient with permaculture, solar power and rain harvesting. We will be transferring plants from our current section to the new section.
Both sections are on the hill so a reasonable level of fitness is necessary.

We may also ask you to participate in 'spring cleaning' in and around the house.

Detalhes

We have from 1 to 3 volunteers at a time.
We are landscaping and planting a plot of land before building a house. It is physical work and on the hill so a good level of fitness is essential.
At the same time we have lighter housekeeping and gardening work at the house we live in when the weather is against us.

We are looking for volunteers who are mature in their outlook and have a good set of life-skills.
Of course, we will guide where needed for more complex tasks, but we expect a certain handiness which means that there is a greater chance of volunteers being in-step with our thoughts.
You should have solid and proven experience in a garden. If you don't, then we may only be able to give you basic weeding and household cleaning tasks.

Atividades & Turnos

There are no set daily activities as it is a work-in-progress. Generally, you would be assisting us at the plot or being self-directing at our house when the weather is too bad to be out in the open.

We offer full board in return for 4 hours per day. We prefer one-day-on-one-day-off. This means that you may work today for 8 hours and not have to work tomorrow. We are flexible of course. Most of our guests prefer this arrangement as it gives them an entire day to explore.
This cadence works in well with our work arrangements too.

We welcome a good connection with our guests. E.g., eating together or going out together for a drive, shop or walk.

We have 2 very active sons (21 & 23) who love their climbing, mountain running, tramping, partying who love to mingle with interesting international people.

Or you might like to cuddle up with our Maine Coon cats.

Regras

Integrity, respect, cleanliness, tidiness and laughter are important values to us.
Please ensure that items/tools are returned to where they were found and that the home remains tidy.
We anticipate being fairly hands-off and let you get on with the job at hand, so more suited to people with a mature outlook and/or a solid skill-base.
We value our privacy after dinner and also need time to relax, so would appreciate you retiring to your room soon after dinner (before 8pm).
Our office is out-of-bounds as we have confidential information there.
We will prepare meals for you or show you the ingredients you can use.
We have 2 Maine Coon cats. To protect our native birds, we only let them out at 12pm and they must wear a bright collar. Please don't let them escape before noon.
We may ask you for a day-0 and day-2 Covid test (RAT) and ask you to self-isolate elsewhere if you test positive.
