The Đông Anh Training and Career Guidance Center trains the disabled in sartorial skills, producing offerings for the deceased, arts, basket-weaving, embroidering, and other crafts suitable for the disabled. These activities do not require hard labor and are easy to learn. The center’s services completely free.

On average, about 30 disabled students are selected each year. The training period lasts from 5 to 7 months and produces graduates who can independently start their own production facility. Those who would rather remain at the center may stay in residencies and earn a living from their hand-made merchandise. All proceeds go to the residents, the center does not take a single cent. Costs and resources are supported by social organizations, orders of artisan products from the sales team, and most importantly, benevolent benefactors.
Volunteers are needed to participate in the upkeep of the center, equipment maintenance, cooking, organizing recreational activities, daily care of the students, counseling, career and vocational guidance, physiotherapy, as well as essential skills training such teaching English. Atividades & Turnos

Volunteering days:

7.30am: Breakfast with other volunteers.

8.00am: Volunteer and staff take transport to volunteer placement. You will be given a duty roster and a plan for your work. There is usually a tea break and a lunch break (11.30 am – 2.00 pm). Work hours vary and depend on your placement.

4.00pm: Work at the placement usually ends. Volunteers are free to visit local sites or do some other things. You may also want to hang out with the children until around 5.00pm.

7.30pm – 8.00pm: Dinner at the volunteer house.

Day offs:
During the weekend, volunteers have time off and usually just relax or take the opportunity to explore other parts of Hanoi and Vietnam. Long weekends can be taken to travel further afield and engage in interesting activities with the students such as homestay in the student’s home, trekking, swimming, sport, historical tours, scenic tours.


- Having a medical background and/or experience in working with people with disabilities is an advantage, however, volunteers without experience will still be able to join in various activities as the students are always very keen to be around foreigners.
