The hostel is nice, colorful and cosy. The other volunteers/staff made it feel like home. The manager, Sandra, is a very professional person and very kind. The hours are respected and the schedule is weekly, which means you can request ajustements with the manager if necessary. I really recommend it!

I had a great time at the hostel. Mike is always available to help us with any issue and he is super nice. The work only takes a few hours a day and then you are free to leave and sight see or mingle with the guests. I learned a lot and am very grateful for the opportunity . I hope to be back someday!

Trata-se de um projeto ambicioso que pretende criar uma rede constante de voluntários ajudando as vilas da região a aprender inglês (desde crianças até comerciantes, com o intuito de fazer florescer o turismo na região). No momento, ainda não está estruturado o suficiente em termos de atividades diárias de ensino da língua, portanto espere bastante tempo inútil. Por outro lado, os anfitriões estão bem preparados e recebem os voluntários muito bem, o que deixa muito tempo para conhecer a cultura local.

I am an electrical engineer, graduated in Brazil in 2006. In 2015, I went to France to do a master´s in sustainable development. One of my favorite classes was on corporate social responsability (CSR), and since then, I have been fascinated by social work and its impact on the community.
I currently work for the Brazilian government. In my spare time, I have been a part of many volunteering projects. The last project I was involved in was social work at a poor neighboorhood in my home town.
As far as travels go, I have an extensive background. I lived in England for 4 years, in the USA for 1 year and in France for 3 years total. I have always travelled during my vacations and I have a preference for travelling by myself and staying at hostels. This is because I find that this is the best way to meet new people. I enjoy hostels, I don´t mind sharing at all and I like the community spirit. But at hostels, usually we meet only other travellers, so I try to meet locals in other ways, like through Couch Surfing meetings and hangouts.
