Vietnam is a classic destination in the backpacker route through Southeast Asia. The culture is vibrant, the history is unique, the cities are full of energy, beaches are stunning. Millions of travelers visit every year, including couples, retirees and families. From the increase in popularity, Vietnam is safe. Tourist scams can be an issue, but the worst that is likely to occur is getting your bag or phone snatched by a scooter-riding thief. Keep your eyes open for those and you’ll be fine ;)
To get a travel visa for Vietnam you must go through a quick process before embarking on an adventure in Asia. First, go to their government website, submit an application for an approval letter. That might take a few days to get processed. Once it’s done, print that letter, then present it at the airport upon arrival in Vietnam, together with 2 passport sized photos and your passport - that must be valid for at least 6 months. The last thing is to pay the fee and you’re all set!
