Traveling to Germany for the first time: where to go?
Germany is a big country, actually the seventh largest country in Europe. Each region has its own culture and customs, but let’s start with the capital: Berlin is an exciting metropolis with strong art and music scenes. Reminders of the city's history include the Holocaust memorial and the several sections of the Berlin Wall. Brandenburg Gate has become a symbol of reunification after the cold war, but also a place to celebrate New Year’s eve in one of Europe’s biggest street parties.
Germany travel tips: save money to try german beer!
With the Euro being one of the world’s strongest currencies, travel costs in Germany can be high. Trains are a good way to travel the country. For example, with the Happy Weekend Ticket (Schönes-Wochenende), you can take the train as often as you like within one weekend. The State Ticket (Länderticket) allows you to explore a whole state for one day. Take the train to Munich, the land of Oktoberfest, or see the Palmengarten in Frankfurt, or the museums of Bonn, pick your favorite!
