Programmdetails

Join our Clothing Production Volunteer Program and help empower community members through practical skills training and creative design. Volunteers work alongside our students and lectures to teach sewing, pattern cutting, fabric selection, and basic garment construction. The project supports sustainable income generation by promoting ethical fashion and small-scale entrepreneurship. You will assist with workshops, mentor trainees, and contribute ideas for new products suited to local and tourist markets. No advanced experience is required—just creativity, patience, and a willingness to share skills while learning about local culture and traditions.

Cultural Exchange & Community Life

Living within a traditional Ovambo village environment offers an immersive cultural experience. You will:
Learn about Ovambo customs, traditions, and daily rural life

Enjoy homemade local food and traditional drinks

Engage with community members in a respectful and meaningful way

Experience Namibia’s semi-arid northern landscape and warm climate

This is not just a volunteer placement—it is a mutual exchange of knowledge, culture, and perspective.

Aktivitäten & Schichten

Typical day: 08:00 - 17:00

Your day begins with breakfast at the lodge before heading to the workshop for a short morning briefing. Together with the local team, you review the day’s goals, prepare materials, and organize sewing stations.

The morning is usually dedicated to hands-on activities such as teaching basic sewing skills, cutting patterns, measuring fabrics, or assisting with garment construction. Volunteers work closely with trainees, offering guidance, encouragement, and creative ideas.

After a lunch break (11:00 - 14:00), the afternoon focuses on production and skill development. You may help with finishing garments, quality control, designing new items, or supporting small business skills such as pricing and presentation.

At the end of the day, the team cleans the workspace, stores materials, and reflects on progress before returning to the lodge to relax and unwind.
