Welcome to Utopia, a peaceful mountain retreat set in the tranquil and scenic mountains of Monchique. Surrounded by stunning nature and breathtaking views, this is a place for people who enjoy working outdoors and being immersed in the calm rhythm of mountain life.

As we move into spring, the land requires experienced and capable volunteers to help prepare and maintain the property. Tasks may include clearing land, de-weeding, gardening, strimming, painting, pressure washing, and light building work depending on your skill set. The work is practical and hands-on, ideal for people who enjoy outdoor projects and takes pride in improving and maintaining beautiful spaces.

In exchange for your help, we offer your own accommodation in a private two-bedroom cottage on the property. The cottage is fully equipped with an ensuite bathroom, a cozy kitchen, and a comfortable living area. The space is shared with only one other bedroom if the second volunteer position is filled, ensuring a peaceful and relaxed environment. We also provide basic healthy food for volunteers to cook for themselves.

Because the cottage is heated with a wood burner, volunteers should feel comfortable lighting and maintaining fires responsibly to keep the space warm and cozy.

The ideal volunteer will be resourceful, self-motivated, and experienced in landscaping, gardening, or decorating. Confidence using tools such as petrol strimmers, pressure washers, and other outdoor equipment is crucial. This is a fairly independent role, so it would suit someone who enjoys working on their own initiative or a couple who can work well together.

The property is quite isolated in the mountains. We can provide a push bike, ideally your own car, Monchique is about 10 km away (around a 15 minute drive).

Aktivitäten & Schichten

Volunteers help with practical outdoor work focused on maintaining and improving the land around the property. Jobs include:

Gardening and de-weeding

Strimming and clearing land

General landscaping and garden maintenance

Painting and decorating projects

Pressure washing outdoor areas

Light building or repair work depending on skills

The role suits people who are comfortable working outdoors and using tools such as petrol strimmers, pressure washers, and other basic landscaping equipment.

Shifts:
Around 5-6 hours per day, 4 days per week. The rest of the time is yours to enjoy.

The work is fairly independent, so volunteers should feel comfortable managing tasks on their own once instructions are given. Couples are also welcome and can work together on projects.

Regeln

Smoking is permitted outdoors only. Due to the high wildfire risk in this region, smokers must be extremely cautious and ensure cigarettes are fully extinguished at all times.
