We are renovating a small wooden cottage that we hope to use for welcoming travelling helpers, Via Francigena pilgrims and other slow travellers. We need help cleaning it, rebuilding the floor, sanding and repainting. It also supports small improvements to the property and our long-term dream of creating a small educational farm, possibly welcoming animals in the future. For now, we’re not an animal shelter, professional eco-project, or business, but a private hospitality and cultural exchange.

We are a private hospitality and cultural exchange project in Northern Italy, along the Via Francigena route. We host travelling helpers, pilgrims and slow travellers in a simple, informal and family-style environment.
At the moment, we are renovating a small wooden cottage of about 20–25 m². Our dream is to use it as a welcoming space for future helpers and travellers who need a quiet place to rest. The exchange is relaxed and flexible: we offer food and accommodation, and we like helpers to have enough free time to explore the area, enjoy local life and feel part of the place.
The main activities are practical and hands-on, including helping rebuild the wooden floor, sanding, painting, cleaning the cottage area, moving light materials, and carrying out small maintenance tasks around the property.
At the moment, we are cleaning the wooden walls and then applying a protective primer/sealer (fissativo). Later, we will be working on assembling the floor.
If we are waiting for materials or cannot continue with the main project, we may shift to lighter tasks around the property, such as helping in the garden, stacking wood, clearing branches, or doing simple outdoor tasks. We may also occasionally ask for help with cooking on a rotating basis.
In general, we agree on the daily rhythm together, depending on the weather, the materials available, and the helper’s plans. We prefer a light, relaxed exchange rather than a strict schedule, so there is plenty of free time to rest, go for walks, visit nearby places, or simply enjoy the countryside.
We ask for respectful, responsible and easy-going people who enjoy simple living and practical work. Good communication is important: if something is unclear, too difficult or uncomfortable, please tell us openly.
This is our private home and a cultural exchange, not a professional building site or business. We do not expect professional work, but we do appreciate care, patience and common sense. Please respect shared spaces, tools, quiet moments, the house, the surrounding nature and the people passing through.
