I just finished my two weeks in chamazi, with samaritan volunteers. I had the possibility to help those children learn math and English, but in the end I realised that they were teaching to me,I was the student and I learned to appreciate the things that I have and to not give everything for granted. I shared this two weeks with some incredible people, first of all my girlfriend Sofia and then all the people from all over the world that I met there. I strongly recommend going to Samaritan ( and stay for more than two weeks trust me you wouldn't regret it 😉) bye bye see you in chamazi!!!

The schools and kids were great. I stayed in a room 5 minutes away from the volunteershouse with 2 other girls. The food was good for so many volunteers. I thought I would be teaching older children but I only had babyclass. Nevertheless I had a nice experience and learned a lot from the teachers here.

This was my first experience with volunteering, and it was a great experience. The host and staff were so nice and welcoming and so were the other volunteers. The work hours were fitting because there was plenty of time to go explore, which I found great!

My experience at samaritan volunteers was very good. It was a lot of fun being a teacher for the lovely children. The children give you a kind of love that I have never received before. I am eternally grateful for this experience and recommend this to everyone who wants to volunteer in the organization. Jackson helps you with everything you would need! The food we got in the volunteer house was very good, and the place I slept was in good condition. Thank you! Asante sana

My experience with the Samaritan volunteers was good! It felt like a home away from home, however as the previous comments say - keep in mind that most of the times there is no running water and the electricity shortages happened often. Working hours are respected and the kids are amazing. The staff that takes care of the house is nice and kind, and the cooked meals were simple but good. Life in Chamazi is simple, and there is a lot of beauty in that. Would definitely recommend the experience!

Vielen Dank für Ihr Feedback; wir schätzen Ihre Meinung wirklich sehr und auch Ihren Respekt. Wir haben einen Mangel an Strom im ganzen Land. Das fließende Wasser hängt vom Strom ab; wenn wir keinen Strom haben, bedeutet das auch, dass es zu einem Mangel an fließendem Wasser kommt. Wir haben dieses Problem im Land seit fast 3 aufeinanderfolgenden Monaten und wir hoffen, dass die Regierung es bald löst und das Leben wieder zur Normalität zurückkehrt.
Danke für die großartige Erfahrung, die wir zusammen mit unseren Kindern geteilt haben, und wir haben die besten Erinnerungen an Sie.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time at Samaritan!! The children are truly amazing and really get into your heart. The accommodation and food was really basic, so don't expect to be in a hotel resort as it sometimes was really challenging. It was great meeting other volunteers from around the world and we would totally recommend gaining this special experience you will cherish for a life time

Es ist besser, dass Freiwillige verstehen, dass sie nicht erwarten sollten, in einem Hotel oder Resort untergebracht zu werden. Wir tun alles Mögliche dafür, dass unsere Freiwilligen eine gute Unterkunft mit allen Grundbedürfnissen haben.

Ha sido una GRAN experiencia. He conocido como funciona la sanidad en la organización y he formado parte del equipo de enfermeros y médicos de diferentes departamentos del hospital. Me han dejado hacer de todo y me he sentido uno más de ellos. Además fuimos a hacer cribados de enfermedades a la zona rural, y también fue una buena experiencia David, ha sido un gran anfitrión. Muy amable, respetuoso, divertido y muy flexible a tus necesidades. Ahora se ha convertido en un amigo. Sobre el alojamiento, Asha, ha sido la mejor HOST MUM que podía haber tenido; asa limpia y comida rica.

The experience was truly heartwarming. From the first day I was warmly welcomed by the children as well as the teachers and Emma and Jackson. Working with the children was wonderful. They give you so much love and look forward to seeing you! (There are four different schools, including a muslim school, so remember to bring the right clothing for cultural and religious reasons). The working hours were respected, and it was never a problem to get a day off for weekend activities. In our free time Jackson always helped us to organize activities and was always there for us. The experience as a volunteer was wonderful. I had good moments such as: inserting myself into a different culture with another language, developing my English through teaching and contact with other volunteers, connecting with the children. Volunteering is in a remote area of Dar Es Salaam. So, problems common to this reality were periodic lack of running water and energy. Emma and Jackson's attention was excellent. I felt safe and supported for whatever was necessary. Communication is always attentive to the needs of volunteers and they are always open to improvements. I recommend.
