Astone ist eine angesehene lokale Führungspersönlichkeit und ich bin sicher, dass er ein guter Mensch ist. Es war nicht mein erstes Mal im Waisenhaus des Dorfes Simoonga, daher kann ich mit Zuversicht sagen, dass die Erfahrung sinnvoll und lohnend ist. Die Kinder sind erstaunlich, und die Anwesenheit von Freiwilligen ist von großer Bedeutung, besonders für diejenigen ohne elterliche Unterstützung. Dennoch sind einige Verbesserungen notwendig. Die Kommunikation sollte klarer sein, insbesondere in Bezug auf lokale Risiken und Sicherheitsmaßnahmen. Außerdem erfordert die Infrastruktur Aufmerksamkeit, da es kein geeignetes Klassenzimmer für Aktivitäten gab und die nächtliche Beleuchtung unzureichend war.

There are not enough words to describe what this experience was for me. They were the most beautiful days I have ever had in my life. All the people there are very friendly and make you feel like family! Astone is always willing to help you with whatever you need and Caroline is an admirable best, it is literally like having a mother far from home, she always takes care of you and is attentive to everything you need. And the children are the cutest children in the world, they infect you with their happiness and such a joyful way of living life. Without a doubt, I recommend this to everyone

The host was very rarely there, but when he was he accused the locals of begging me and another volunteer for money. When I first arrived I asked what tasks I am able to do and he said to ask the other volunteers. The volunteers said they tend to go to the school and then just spend time with the children in the morning and afternoon, however when I did this for three weeks, he told me I wasn't doing enough, however he only told me this two days before I was leaving. There was a very big pressure to spend a lot of money on the project like previous volunteers.

We were welcomed by the project and looked after really well! Interacting with the kids, getting to know them, and sharing a living environment with them was truly wholesome and a great learning experience. There are multiple projects that need funding, and I think the project should focus on finishing one at a time. The agreement was to exchange childcare for a bed and meals, yet we also felt pressured to raise funds and pay for things like groceries. the project needs money, they should make this program a paid program and not a free program. Overall it was a good experience✨

Vielen Dank für das Feedback. Die Lage im Land ist schlecht, daher wäre es gut, wenn die Freiwilligen dieses Jahr beim Besuch des Waisenheims etwas bezahlen würden. Einige fragen sich allein, wie diese Menschen es schaffen, uns zu ernähren und woher die Mittel stammen. Es wäre großartig, die Freiwilligen aufzunehmen, die helfen können.

I mostly spend my time playing with the children and sometimes helping with cooking meals.There were no specific hours or tasks that needed to be done during the day , so its pretty much up to you on what to do with your time as there were no rules .I think if there was a proper schedule put in place , everyone would feel better.The hosts are very welcoming and kind but they treated us like royalty which I found was unnecessary, especially because they fed us so much food while the kids barely got anything.but at the end of the day I did what I could for the children and we had a goodtime

Absolutely loved my time volunteering! Immersed in the local culture, the village embraced me warmly. Learning local languages was enriching. The kids stole my heart; spending time with them and tending to the garden brought immense joy. A piece of my heart remains with them, and I already miss the laughter and innocence. Hope to reunite soon. Grateful for this unforgettable experience! 🌍💙

Wow! What can I say? What an incredible experience at the project. This was our dream placement. Astone, Caroline and Sosha made us feel so at home and part of the project family. Volunteering within the football academy, schools and the orphange was a truly rewarding experience. the project United will always have a place in our hearts and so will all the people. WE ARE THE VILLAGERS! I would recommend Astone to anyone I meet and I hope that we can return again one day.

We LOVED our time at the project, from the moment we made contact with Astone, we were made to feel so welcome. His family were so welcoming, loving and friendly, it really feels like a second family. We used our time during the mornings supporting in a few different pre and primary schools supporting the teachers with English and Sports lessons. In the afternoons we led the training for the academy football team. Weekends consisted of football matches for the academy and going to watch the first team play! We were so sad to leave as the project and its people are so special to us.

I had the time of my life in the project. I was able to meet great people in the village and to spend time with the best kids in the world. Also the activities organized by the host on the free days are amazing. I hope I'll have the possibility to go back.
