GEC wird immer einen besonderen Platz in meinem Herzen haben. Mama Ida hat sich so warm um mich gekümmert, dass ich mich nie wie ein Gast gefühlt habe — ich fühlte mich wirklich wie Familie. Ich bin ihr und Herrn Bayu von ganzem Herzen dankbar, dass sie mich von Anfang an willkommen, unterstützt und zu Hause fühlen ließen. Die Studenten und die ganze Gemeinschaft haben meinen Aufenthalt unvergesslich gemacht. An zukünftige Reisende: Kommt mit offenem Herzen und schätzt die einfachen Momente. Ich kam als Freiwilliger an, aber ich ging mit Erinnerungen, Dankbarkeit und einer Familie, an die ich mich immer erinnern werde.

Alles an dieser Erfahrung war großartig. Ich habe die wunderbaren Menschen getroffen und so viel über ihre Kultur gelernt. Die Gastgeber Bayu und Farida waren großartig, sie behandelten mich wie Familie und ließen mich immer neue und köstliche Speisen probieren. Die Arbeit ist sehr lohnend und ich liebte es zu sehen, wie die Schüler sich verbessern und beim Englischsprechen mehr Selbstvertrauen gewinnen. Die ganze Gegend ist atemberaubend und so unterschätzt: Reisterrassen, Berge, natürliche Quellen, Strände und UNESCO-Welterbstätten.

I don't have enough good words to describe this volunteering. Meeting the GEC Family was by far one of my best traveling experiences. Mr. Bayu and Ms. Farida are the best and most attentive hosts. You will feel like home while meeting locals and immersing in local javanese and indonesian culture. The rest of the teachers and students at GEC would make your stay in Klaten one to remember, creating meaningful life experiences and friendships for a life time. I will definitely come back as soon as i can! Please don't hesitate to get in contact with me if you have any questions or need more info.

This experience wasn't exactly what I expected, but it was a meaningful opportunity to connect with local people and learn about their culture. I'm grateful for the students and for the chance to share and grow in a new environment 😊

I've had a wonderful time volunteering at GEC. The school is primarily teaching English to adults, interested in working on cruise ships so the students are usually in their 20ies or 30ies. It was so much fun assisting the classes with Banyu and not difficult at all. Throughout this whole time I was fed exceptionally well and could choose whatever food I wanted. Farida always made sure I had everything I need, took care of my laundry and even invited me on a spa day. :) I'm really grateful for my time at GEC

This experience has been very enriching, I have been able to continue practising English, Bayu is a very attentive staff member who has always made sure that I have not missed anything and that I feel very comfortable, she is also a very funny person and I have been able to enjoy myself with the students, the work consists of speaking English with them so that they can practise it. I would definitely recommend this volunteer, thank you very much 🙏🏼

This was an amazing experience. I came there without any expectations and it was one of the best voluntering of my life. The people there included me in the family since day one. I have never seen that much kindness in such a short period of time. In a typical day, you have two courses (one in the afternoon and the other in the evening). The students are always so cheerful and honestly it doesn't really seem like a course. You just try to have a conversation with them and try to make them understand. I technically was the teacher, but I learn so much from them. I will recommend it for sure!
