It didn't work out for me and I left the place early. The facilities are nice, most people are nice and I could adapt to the macrobiotic food. However, they struggle a lot to organise the volunteers and they push that job on top of us if it's not working. I worked way more than 35 hours per week and had to attend endless meetings and circles. I felt exhausted, that I was wasting my time, ignored when I shared it with everyone and manipulated into thinking that I had a problem (even though more people shared and felt the same). In the end, it seemed like they didn't want or needed my help.

Es war auch keine gute Erfahrung für uns. Obwohl Flavio sehr freundlich war und wirklich helfen wollte, passte er nicht zu unserer Gemeinschaft.
Bei Avnø gilt unsere Richtlinie, dass jeder Freiwillige oder jedes Team einen Verantwortungsbereich entsprechend seinen Wünschen und Fähigkeiten hat und dann seine eigene Zeit organisiert. Viele Freiwillige haben Avnø verlassen und sich sehr gestärkt gefühlt, mit einem guten Verständnis dafür, wie man Gleichgewicht zwischen Arbeit, Gemeinschaftsleben und Privatleben findet. Die ganze Idee hinter unserer Organisation ist, dass wir möchten, dass unsere Freiwilligen aus Inspiration arbeiten und nicht aus Pflicht. Pausen einzulegen, wenn nötig. Es ist deutlich in unserem Infopack angegeben. Es ist nicht immer einfach am Anfang, daher brauchen sie oft etwas Unterstützung, um das Gleichgewicht zu finden. Flavio wollte, dass wir einen festeren Arbeitsplan schaffen – für alle, statt nur Unterstützung zu geben, um seine eigene Situation zu organisieren.
Es wird auch deutlich in unserem Infopack angegeben, dass Freiwillige während ihres Aufenthalts Teil unserer Gemeinschaft sein werden. Flavio war kein großer Fan davon, an unseren Gemeinschaftsaktivitäten teilzunehmen, sodass unsere Morgenrunden und Austauschrunden, die für uns freudvoll und verbindend sind, für ihn endlos schienen.
Flavio kann gut zu einem Ort passen, der andere Richtlinien und Werte hat.

It was a nice experience, the place is totally surrounded by nature and beautiful animals of the area. I enjoyed people there, I got the opportunity to learn more about macrobiotic diet, improve my skills in social media management and even in cooking meals, which is something I do like. Sometimes I just felt not in the right place, feeling the need to meet new people and explore new places, but it was not so easy since Avnø it's kinda in the middle of nowhere.

Nao recomendaria esta experiência. A vida em comunidade não é divertida e tem muito trabalho. Você fica isolado de tudo e depende de dividir os carros pessoais dos donos para ir à estaçao de trem, e paga caro toda vez que quiser usar o carro. Voce pode usar as bicicletas que eles têm, mas nao é uma pedalada muito agradavel, com muito evento e frio. A comida é bem ruim, apesar de saudavel. Você nao pode cozinhar sua propria comida e tem que comer o que é servido. A comida é a base de muitos muitos vegetais e organica. Come-se uma pouca quantidade de ovos e peixe.

Wir sind uns bewusst, dass diese Erfahrung nicht für jeden geeignet ist und dass wir tun, was wir können, um die Menschen darüber zu informieren, was zu erwarten ist, einschließlich eines Vorstellungsgesprächs, um unrealistische Erwartungen zu vermeiden. In den meisten Fällen haben wir Erfolg und es gibt Menschen, die das Gefühl haben, während ihres Aufenthalts hier viel zu wachsen, und die dankbar für die Erfahrung sind. Gelegentlich gelingt es uns jedoch nicht, unrealistische Erwartungen bei einer Person vor ihrer Ankunft zu erkennen, sodass sie Enttäuschung erleben. Es tut uns leid, dass Sie offensichtlich damit durchmachen mussten.

I have really enjoyed being part of and supporting the Avnø the eco village community. But also being supported and appreciated by the wonderful personalities in the community. In my area of responsibility, marketing, I was able to design and creatively implement many things on my own and there were no limits to my creativity. I really appreciated this and my suggestions were positively received in an open exchange within the community. Thank you for the many wonderful and intense moments and experiences in the community 💚

It was my first volunteering experience, I travelled with my boyfriend. The best part of the experience was the people! We created and amazing team to work and also to enjoy doing different activities (pingpong, bádminton, basketball...). Really nice relationship with both hosts, Kristiane and John, and in general with the hole community. You need to be aware that they follow a macrobiotic diet, mostly vegan, so it's important for you to know where you are going (In my personal opinion, I am not vegetarian, but for me was good anyway). It was a really nice learning experience!!!
