Es war eine unglaubliche Erfahrung, Shegu hat mich von Anfang an super behandelt, und der Ort ist unglaublich, sie haben mir auch viel beigebracht, um mein Surf-Niveau zu verbessern, und man verbindet sich sehr mit den Einheimischen von Salaverry, Daniela ist auch großartig und man kann über alles mit beiden sprechen, ich werde sie wirklich in mein Herz schließen, denn es war eine der bereicherndsten Erfahrungen meines Lebens, außerdem mit den Kindern zu sein ist super lustig und es gibt keinen Tag, an dem man seinen Aufenthalt nicht genießt.

Meine Erfahrung war vielfältig, aber insgesamt bereichernd. Ich blieb zwei Monate und freute mich darauf, Englischunterricht zu geben, mit den Kindern Sport zu treiben und mit Juan Bäume zu pflanzen, der die netteste Person war, mit der ich je zusammengearbeitet habe. Ich hatte wirklich das Gefühl, dass ich eine Verbindung zu den Einheimischen aufgebaut habe und die Chance bekam, sie durch Shegu und das Projekt gut kennenzulernen. Salaverry ist eine idyllische Stadt voller freundlicher Menschen. Obwohl es manchmal zu Kommunikationsproblemen mit dem Gastgeber kam und er zeitweise nicht anwesend war, übernahmen wir in den letzten Wochen die Arbeit. Es hätte einen besser organisierten Zeitplan geben können.

I had a great stay overall in Salaverry! Working with Juan in the mornings was a highlight, he made us feel so welcome and would make us amazing coffees. The painting and digging for him was enjoyable! You get a lot of free time which was nice to be able to explore the surrounding areas. The English lessons in the evenings were enjoyable and most of the students were very engaged and willing to learn. There could be a bit more structure for the lessons and a bit more motivation from the organisers, but otherwise it's a great little town, the people were lovely & the work super chill!

I had a great experience volunteering — I taught English to kids and joined an environmental project with Juan, planting trees and improving a public area near the beach. Juan was always kind, smiling, and full of good energy. Shegu was super friendly and really cared about the kids, making sure they were included in activities like basketball and sandboarding. It all felt very natural. Peaceful beach town with lovely people. The shared kitchen was a bit tricky but manageable. A more organized English lesson schedule would help. Great experience — I'd definitely come back!

I had an amazing time at Jar'kay and stayed the perfect amount of time. In the morning you would plant flowers/trees or paint and the locals loved to stop by and show appreciation. Then later in the afternoon you would either teach English class or help with surf lessons. Most of the kids already know how to surf so you are mainly there for support. In the evenings volunteers would cook food together, do campfires on the mountain, or some nights travel to Trujillo for the nightlife. Salavvery has sandboarding, surfing, and a large nature preserve. Overall I had a great stay.

El voluntariado en Jar'kay fue una experiencia increíble y una que no voy a olvidar. Desde hangear con los otros voluntarios hasta el trabajo en sí, todo fue súper divertido y muy gratificante. Sembrar árboles y plantas, enseñar inglés a los niños y mostrarles cómo surfear fue súper lindo, y de verdad se siente el impacto que uno genera. Shegu es un host de diez, con una energía increíble, y siempre se las arreglaba para organizar algo en nuestro tiempo libre. Daniela es la máxima, muy buena onda, y ayudó un montón con todo lo relacionado con la experiencia. Gracias Jar'kay!!

My stay at Jark'ay was just the best! Shegu is really commited to the organization in the sense that he really cartes about the children and what we can offer them but he is also here to make sure that you have a great time at the same time in Salaverry And for me it was the case! The kids are the best, they are really willing to learn and make so many effort to try to improve that is heartwarming

El proyeto Jark'ay es una organización muy hermosa y tenía un buen tiempo en la casa de Shegu y en Salaverry. Solo con un poco de trabajo pude ayudar a la naturaleza y a los niños locales. Hemos plantado dos árboles de coco durante mi visita. Y en la tarde tenemos clases de Inglés o de Surf con los niños. Siempre estaban contentos y el tiempo que pasé con ellos fue estupendo y precioso. Tenía mucho tiempo libre también que pasé con los otros voluntarios, para conocer Salaverry y Huanchaco y aprender a surfear. Mi tiempo allí pasó tan rápido y algún día volveré :)

Great experience! The atmosphere in the house is always serene and with the other volunteers you immediately create a super harmony :)) The English lessons and the children are nice and motivating, the only flaw is the lack of organisation. I would recommend more communication in managing the house and the things you can do.
