Programa detallado
Our shelter cares for hundreds of rescued dogs and cats across two locations on Koh Samui. Volunteers become part of our daily shelter routine and help our local staff and long-term volunteers care for the animals.
No previous experience is required for general volunteering. What matters most is that you genuinely care about animals, are reliable and are willing to help wherever needed. The work can sometimes be dirty, hot and tiring, but it is also incredibly rewarding. You'll get to know our animals, their personalities and their stories, and see the difference that regular attention and care can make.
Long-term volunteers can also become involved in other areas depending on their experience and interests, including veterinary work, photography, social media, maintenance and other shelter projects.
Actividades & Turnos
Volunteer days normally start around 9:00 AM. The morning is when we need the most help with essential tasks such as cleaning animal areas, providing fresh water, feeding and general shelter work.
Once the main work is completed, there is more time for activities such as walking dogs, socializing with dogs and cats, bathing animals, helping with puppies and kittens, and giving our animals some much-needed individual attention.
Tasks vary from day to day depending on what is happening at the shelter and where help is needed most. We ask volunteers to be flexible rather than expecting the same activity every day.
Reglas
Animal safety always comes first. Please follow the instructions of our staff and experienced volunteers, especially when entering compounds, handling dogs or taking animals for walks.
Some of our animals have difficult backgrounds and not every dog can safely interact with every person or animal. Dogs must never be removed from their compounds without permission, and gates must always be carefully closed behind you.
We expect volunteers to be reliable, respectful and willing to help with the less glamorous parts of shelter life too. Cleaning and other basic care are just as important as walking and cuddling the animals.
Most importantly, please treat our animals, staff, other volunteers and the local community with kindness and respect.
