I had incredible experience at the hostel on Holbox Island – it truly had everything I needed. The staff and volunteers were so welcoming, and it felt like being part of a big, happy family. Holbox is the perfect island to unwind and enjoy the serene beauty. Highly recommend!

Overall I had a good time on the island. I liked the hostel,it was a nice place to be. The location is awesome(2 blocks from the beach!) and the people are nice. Working hours were respected. However, they were pretty critical and had high expectations, and there wasn't a lot of support. I didn't really feel welcomed.It's a tough job, as there are limited food options on the island(and you are cooking for 25-35ppl), so it took some time to figure out a meal plan and recipes. I got the impression that money and budget were a higher priority than guest experience, or the volunteers experience.

Sin embargo, me gustaría aclarar que antes de aceptarte, tuvimos una llamada telefónica en la que te expliqué en detalle qué harías y de qué serías responsable. También te expliqué que tendrías orientación durante el voluntariado, aunque necesitas trabajar de forma autónoma. La capacidad del hostal y el número medio de huéspedes que llegan para el desayuno también se te explicó. Debido a tu experiencia previa en Starbucks, me diste a entender que podrías lidiar con gente esperando su pedido; sin embargo, no fuiste capaz de gestionar a tres personas esperando sin sentirte abrumada. Sentí que faltaba un poco de honestidad de tu parte. También repasamos juntos las recetas de la primera semana y la preparación de las comidas, y luego siempre es lo mismo. Siempre te he preguntado si necesitabas algo y si te sentías cómoda. Como en cualquier negocio, debemos seguir un presupuesto para que sea viable. Al contrario, realmente nos importan nuestros huéspedes, por eso les ofrecemos un desayuno gratuito. También creamos un ambiente familiar para cada miembro del personal y los voluntarios y nos reunimos todos juntos, como puedes ver en las otras reseñas. Lamentamos mucho que esta experiencia no haya cumplido tus criterios y sin duda lo tendremos en cuenta para el futuro. Te deseamos muchas experiencias felices de voluntariado. Saludos

I've had a blast volunteering at the hostel for 4 weeks. The hostel's a very accommodating host, providing a comfy tent and nice shared facilities. Working hours and tasks were exactly as agreed and I appreciated the open communication. I very much enjoyed making breakfast every day in such a relaxed, laid-back environment and can recommend everyone to come and stay in this tropical paradise!

The hostel feel like Home! It was my first volunteering, and was amazing, the hostel & staff was amazing, so thanks Nadja a Delphine for the opportunity. The Hostel is a two blocks of the beach, and you have all near! I would come back every time!

My experience at the hostel was amazing! Holbox island is a little paradise If you're in charge of activities, the job is pretty straightforward : you organise activities, and besides that you have to make sure the guest have a good time and gather them all together. You have to work autonomously so if you have any questions or you need help don't hesitate to ask. the hostel as really great vibes. It will make you feel part of a family. The staff and others volonteers are amazing people. You sleep in a tent, which means you have your own personal space, even if it can be hot sometimes

Volunteering at the hostel was a beautiful experience. I learned and grew so much while I was here. Holbox is an AMAZING island with everything you need. The work is simple and straight forward no matter what job you have. I will miss this place so much and I thank everyone that made this experience so special. Holbox is an amazing island and I would recommend anyone to go visit if you love the beach and camping (since you'll be sleeping in a tent)! It is a little more expensive than the rest of Mexico, so be prepared for that. As for the hostel, the team I worked with was amazing, and the hostel was a really chill atmosphere. However, multiple times I felt disrespected by management and I was blamed for things that were out of my control. Aside from that, it was a great experience!

Me alegra mucho que hayas pasado un tiempo tan agradable en Holbox y te hayas llevado bien con el equipo. Pido disculpas por hacerte sentir irrespetada y agradezco tus comentarios; no es así como quisiera hacer sentir a alguien.
Desafortunadamente, ya en el primer día quedó evidente que exageraste fuertemente tu experiencia en la cocina. Los huéspedes y otros miembros del equipo a menudo se quejaban de la calidad del trabajo y, con el tiempo, se volvió insatisfactorio que ciertos errores se repitiesen.
Aun así, tu personalidad extrovertida contribuyó a una gran atmósfera en el albergue y siento que no hayamos empezado con el pie derecho. Te deseo todo lo mejor en tus futuros esfuerzos y buenos viajes por delante.

Life was so beautiful in the hostel that I can say I lived a dream in Holbox! Do not worry about anything here, just enjoy the real good life of volunteer. Tati is a special soul in this world who will help you all the time in a very sweet way and Delphine will bring the energy to understand that life in Holbox is amazing! Work is easy if you put your attention to it. Meet people from all over the world. Make connections with them, with yourself and the magic island!
