La Experiencia
-We are always looking for helpers who like helping in our greenhouse, watering, transplanting, weeding plus weed whacking, trimming and fertilizing our fruit tree -Sweeping, dishes, periodic deep spring cleaning. organizing the main house and communal areas -Rotten wood needs to be replaced, painted, making fences/gates stronger, etc -Dogs and cats brushed/bathed We are looking for helpers who are flexible to do different tasks.

Mi experiencia fue increíble, Judy me recibió con los brazos abiertos y en todo momento estuvo atenta de mí por si necesitaba cualquier cosa, además, te permite tener mucha flexibilidad con las horas de trabajo y los días libres. También, cuando ella salía y nos podía acercar a los sitios que íbamos lo hacía sin problema. El alojamiento es igual que en las fotos, pero las camas son muy cómodas y te dan cobijas para que no pases frío. En definitiva repetiría la estancia aquí, me lo pasé muy bien y conocí gente maravillosa :)

Pésima experiencia, la calidad de las instalaciones era muy deficiente, recibimos una habitación en muy mal estado de limpieza y cuando la teníamos limpia y ordenada pretendían cambiarnos a un invernadero que estaba muy descuidado, por su mala organización. Como no estábamos de acuerdo la única alternativa que nos dio fue marcharnos. Trabajos desagradables como limpiar excrementos de bichos de las paredes o sacar insectos muertos de los railes de las ventanas. En general malas condiciones pensábamos ir a ayudar en una granja y terminamos limpiándole la casa, No recomendaría a nadie.

I try and work out any issues with helpers directly, but Nerea and Maria were not open to resolve their concerns. Therefore when Nerea said she would leave a negative review, I felt it was important to share our experiences with the intent of it being a growing opportunity for all involved and possibly can help with other helpers before they commit to coming to our farm.
We always ask for confirmation after pre-approval that the worldpacker person rereads our detailed profile/listing throughly so that there are no surprises on both ends. In our original questions we mention the possibility of bugs, working in the sun/rain etc. and they responded no problem.
Yet it became very apparent upon their arrival that they were not a good fit and that perhaps they didn’t read our full listing or had language translation issues )as communication and openness to help was a problem from day one .
They didn’t want to work outside ( especially not past 8:45 am ) as they complained about the heat.( it’s funny considering they decided to come to a farm in Hawaii in August which is one of our hotter months).
Trying to salvage the situation I looked to find any sort of house cleaning and food prep i could find. Not only were they painfully slow , they did not want to touch anything that had a little bug or a spider and often they were staring at their phone screens and we often felt negativity coming from them .
We placed them in a larger area with each having their own tent. All of our spots are very basic which is in our listing. Each spot has pro and cons ,and their spot which is in our previous barn has the most bugs of all our sleeping areas which they never said was an issue for them.
However when I asked them ( over the phone as I was out of state on a family medical emergency at the time ) to move to a smaller room which is specifically used when two people come together and has two single beds in it( which two worldpackers who came together just left -whom by the way loved it here .)Maria and Nerea refused angrily claiming it’s not fair moving them . Their reason was they had too much stuff to move And that it’s too hot and bugs in the new location ( there is actually a lot less bugs in comparison to where they were as it it screened )
I offered them two helpers to help them move and they all would get work credit.
In my listing I post helpers are to be flexible and although I rarely need to move helpers spot sometimes when we are at capacity or with the overlap of people coming and going I have to move helpers. I tell everyone when they get here most helpers just sleep in their personal spots and hang out in the community room and kitchen during off hours
They told me two other girls who came separately agreed to move to that room .I said that would be fine, but I had to confirm with those girls.. But once I asked the other girls preferred to stay in their individual spots.
They then said I could put the new arrivals a male and female traveling separately together in the room. I have never put two people who did not come together in the same sleeping spot,.they responded angrily that they would leave
I said I understand and that I gave them a safe option and I didnt have any other sleeping area for them and I had to do the best for the whole group.
It is unfortunate that it didnt work out for them, but I can only do my best and hope they and others will reread my profile thoroughly to see that I try to be very honest and clear. I try to go over the top with potential issues so that in the majority of cases helpers are surprised has easy the life is to adjust to.
Again this spot is not for everyone.

Muy disgustada con la experiencia. Condiciones higiénicas del alojamiento en exceso precarias. Trato personal carente de deferencia. A modo de ejemplo: realizando tareas en el huerto y encontrándome mal, solicité poder realizar una tarea bajo sombra; la respuesta fue que continuase, que para eso había aplicado a ese voluntariado. Otra: se me comunica, a través del grupo de WhatsApp, que, por cuestiones de su falta de organización debo abandonar mi tienda para dormir en el invernadero. Y tareas de limpieza muy desagradables. En resumen, deficientes condiciones y trato carente de deferencia.

De las mejores experiencias de mi vida. He viajado sola y en la granja conoces a mucha gente increíble. La granja es tal y como se explica, las instalaciones comunes cuentan con las cosas básicas, las camas de las tiendas de campaña son muy cómodas, es un gustazo ducharse en la calle y al baño hay que acostumbrarse, pero nada de otro mundo. Judy está siempre atenta por si necesitas cualquier cosa, además que siempre que se tenga que desplazar, se ofrece para acercarte a cualquier sitio. El trabajo es muy variado y las horas de trabajo te las organizas tú.

Ha sido la mejor experiencia de mi vida. Soy de España, y es la primera vez que viajaba a un sitio tan lejos yo sola. He aprendido muchísimo. Las instalaciones de la granja están bien, la habitación, la cocina, el baño, el espacio común y otras áreas también estaban bien. Todo era muy básico y tenías que acostumbrarte a los mosquitos y a algún que otro bicho, pero de resto tenía todo lo necesario para tu estadía ahí. El trabajo es muy variado, fácil, y las horas estan bien. Judy es una persona increíble, me ha ayudado en todo y enseñado muchísimo, además ha sido muy comprensiva en todo.
