As a housekeeping volunteer, you'll be at the forefront of our operations. As part of the housekeeping team, you'll help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness for our residents. Duties include everyday general cleaning: showers, toilets, bedrooms, public and communal areas, external areas, kitchens, and the dining room. Help keep spaces tidy, safe, and welcoming for everyone staying with us. Your effort helps a great stay and smooth days.

Welcome to our incredible volunteer team! Every year, volunteers contribute over 150,000 hours to support LHA and its residents with dedication and care. As a housekeeping volunteer, you’ll be at the forefront of our daily operations, helping to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and comfort throughout the hostel.

Key Details & Schedule:
Schedule: 5 days per week, 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM (20–24 hours per week).

Days Off: 2 days off per week (to be confirmed at the start of your placement).

Accommodation: Provided in a shared female dorm in exchange for your volunteering hours.

Food Allowance: £20 weekly grocery allowance (provided as groceries worth this amount).

Your Duties
General Cleaning: General cleaning across all areas, showers, toilets, bedrooms, public and communal spaces, external areas/gardens, kitchens, and the dining room.

Deep Cleaning: deep cleaning tasks such as carpets, ovens, windows, walls, vents, and laundry areas.

Important Note on Physical Work
This is a real housekeeping role and involves thorough cleaning every single shift. It is not light or basic help, so it is essential that you are comfortable with physical cleaning duties before accepting the position.

Actividades & Turnos

Volunteers contribute 20 hours per week supporting the housekeeping team.
Shifts are scheduled daily from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM (4 hours per day), depending on hostel needs.
Exact days will be confirmed once your role is offered.
You’ll have two days off per week, giving you plenty of time to rest, explore London, and enjoy the experience.

Reglas

Accommodation: Volunteers stay in shared single-sex dorms with other volunteers (usually 3–4 people per room).

Duration: The minimum stay is 30 days, and the maximum stay is 6 weeks. If you wish to leave earlier, we kindly ask for at least one week’s notice.

Daily Routine & Communication:
Each morning, please come to reception to collect your daily tasks.
When you finish your tasks, always let us know so we can check if there’s anything else to do.
Please keep good communication and stick to the schedule, as this helps the whole team work better.

Punctuality: We value arriving on time and being punctual for every shift to ensure the team runs smoothly.

Procedures & Quality: It is expected that cleaning is done properly by following the exact procedures and guidelines we teach you during your training.

Shared Spaces: The kitchen, common areas, and volunteer dorms must always be kept clean and tidy, as we all share these spaces. Respect for others, teamwork, and cleanliness are key parts of the experience!
