Una experiencia 10! Mama Aldi es la mejor, me cuido como si fuera su hija, me llevo a visitar sitios preciosos y probar comida local super rica! A parte ella cocina de maravilla y se encarga de que te sientas a gusto en todo momento. Es una experiencia 100% local, no es un sitio turístico por lo que te sumerges en su cultura y tradiciones. Por las tardes dábamos una hora de ingles con los niños del pueblo que son maravillosos y lo pasábamos muy bien. Estoy deseando volver para verlos a todos! Love you Mama Aldi💞💞💞

Me encantó cada segundo que tuve la oportunidad de pasar con Mama Aldi y su hermosa familia! Mi agenda fue un poco diferente de lo planeado debido al horario del Ramadán (fuera de su control), pero eso solo hizo que mi experiencia fuera aún mejor de lo que esperaba. En los apenas diez días que pasé allí, estas hermosas personas se convirtieron en mi familia! Me recibieron con los brazos abiertos, y realmente solo querían sumergirme en su estilo de vida y en su cultura. Nunca olvidaré las experiencias que tuve gracias a ellos. ¡Ahora somos familia para siempre! Y no puedo esperar para volver.

Me quedé en la casa de Mama Aldi durante 8 días. Fue muy agradable, ¡te hacen sentir como parte de la familia! Mama Aldi siempre te lleva por los alrededores, mostrando cómo funciona la vida aquí. ¡Una hora de inglés con los niños del pueblo por la tarde, y también tuve la suerte de compartir un poco sobre mi vida y mi país (Italia) con los profesores de las escuelas aquí en Sorowako!

I had an amazing time volunteering in sorowako, teaching English to children and helping out with gardening. It was an incredibly rewarding experience, as I got to be part of the local culture and see how welcoming everyone was. The kids were eager to learn, and it was so fulfilling to be able to assist in their growth and development. I felt at home with the Aldy's family, they were always looking to give us the best time and makes us feel comfortable!

I absolutely loved living with Aldi's family. The fact that we became a part of the family so quickly was a blessing. Mama Aldi cooked us every meal and always wanted to keep us busy. Our timing was unfortunate that there was nothing to help build but that is out of their control as they need donations for supplies. I only wish we could have helped more!

Coming to Sorowako and staying with Aldi and family was my best decision and I'm so glad I did it! It was such a pleasure to interact with neighbourhood children in the village to teach English and sometimes even Japanese! We went hiking together as well, and they sent me off at bus terminal when I left town! Made me cry... 🥹 Visiting local Jr High School, playing badminton with students, attending wedding, picnic at lakeside, playing cards and chatting over coffee... I made a lot of new friends through Aldi and his mom, the memories I'll cherish for the rest of my life.

I really enjoyed my experience living with Aldi and his family. I was able to immerse myself into Indonesian life by getting to know them and their friends, as well as trying the local food and learning the traditional culture. Teaching the children basic English was always fun and I highly recommend it. Although life was somewhat rural, that aspect made the experience truly rewarding. Moreover, Lake Matano and its surroundings was really beautiful and to travel there was amazing. I wished I could of stayed there longer as I knew there was plenty more that I could of done and would of enjoyed.

Our time at the project was wonderful and unforgettable. Mama Aldi immediately makes you feel so welcome and at home, with amazing food too! The English lessons are quite relaxed, super accessible for first time teachers, and the kids are so sweet. The host family was more than happy to show us around the local area too, including the beautiful lake nearby, and one time the kids took us on a mountain trek! The facilities are quite basic as the village itself is very rural, so you truly get the chance to immerse yourself in Sulawesi culture.
