Estuve 9 dias en este voluntariado, en ese tiempo estuvimos preparando la tierra para sembrar, después de eso sembramos plantas de tomates, también estuve alimentando a las gallinas, patos y gansos y limpiando algunos árboles frutales, don Ignacio cocina muy bien y la vista al de su casa es muy hermosa, las playas de Castellamare son increíbles y estan muy cerca de la casa de don Ignacio.

I had a great time on this trip. Picking the olives was very therapeutic and was lovely to be outside all day. Learning about olive pressing was also very interesting and seeing the sites of Sicily was great, especially the hot springs! Although I wasn't learning Italian this would be a great stay to improve your language.

Fue muy agradable y útil contar con Ulla haciendo voluntariado en mi casa, recogiendo aceitunas, ayudando en la casa y preparando comida. Ulla es una persona proactiva, muy educada, amable y sociable.
Recomendaría a Ulla sin duda en cualquier lugar. Si quiere volver, la recibiré en cualquier época del año. Buena suerte.

The landscape of the place is beautiful! The work is hard, but it feels great to be in touch with the trees and nature around. I learned great deal about Italian culture and language! We worked 6h/day + commute, which is done by car with the host, Ignazio. He, in his own way, does not show so much appreciation for the volunteers. He has a harsh way of expressing himself. Besides, he assumed having an intimacy with me that I never gave him, and I had to stand up for myself and set real boundaries. His brother Leo and a friend Lucia are lovely people and I'm grateful they were around.

Me alegra que te guste el lugar y que hayas aprendido que el trabajo en el campo es duro, y lo expliqué muy bien. El voluntariado no es unas vacaciones; en mi lugar son 6 horas durante 5 días.
Soy una persona muy amable y cálida, como todo el mundo en el sur de Italia, especialmente en Sicilia, y compartimos todo lo que tenemos. Sé muy bien que la calidez humana es desconocida en el norte y es probable que nunca la hayas encontrado. Disfruta de la vida.

This was a fun adventure and I learned lots about local plants and food! I really enjoyed caring for / pruning the olive trees and harvesting olives. We also harvested some fruits and almonds! One thing that wasn't the best was the host, Ingazio, isn't super respectful of some boundaries. Although it was something that can be dealt with for short term stays :)
