En general, no recomendaría hacer voluntariado en Hippie Hostel, ya que creo que el ambiente en general fue muy decepcionante y me sentí incómodo allí. Aunque el trabajo era muy fácil (solo 2-3 tareas de limpieza por la mañana), me resultó muy difícil conocer a otros jóvenes en este albergue y no lo encontré para nada sociable. Me ubicaron en el dormitorio mixto compartido más grande, el cual normalmente no me molestaría, sin embargo descubrí que las únicas personas que iban al albergue eran hombres mayores. También se acordó como parte de mi voluntariado que recibiría una comida al día, y cuando llegué no se mencionó nada al respecto.

El albergue es pequeño, y yo era el único voluntario, así que ten en cuenta que para practicar idiomas tendrás que intentar hablar con los huéspedes. Las horas de trabajo también son cortas y el trabajo es simple, así que tuve mucho tiempo para explorar la zona. Los anfitriones fueron muy amables y acomodaron todo lo que pedí.

I really enjoyed my stay in Hippie Hostel, the duties were easy to carry and the staff was very kind with me. I had to work a couple of hours per day and I received accomodation and food. Chania is a lovely place that I enjoyed a lot!

All I had to do was to clean for 2-3 hours a day, everything was just as discussed before my trip. You share a room with other travelers, which is a great opportunity to meet them. There's also a shared kitchen and a roof terrace for you to enjoy. The hostel is just 3 minutes from the sea and 10 minutes from the center of Chania. It was my first experience with Worldpackers and I would highly recommend it :)

I had fun! The location is very good, and the hostel soooo beautiful!!! People were very nice, the host is very nice and helpful. I agree with previous volunteer about the work. It wasn't what i applied for, but it was nothing hard. I did the cleaning of the hostel nothing to detailed, on my own terms when it comes to working hours. I made breaks when i wanted and cleaned when i felt is the best for me. It took me max of 4 hours if not less to finish everything, so i would say that it is pretty flexible. The guests of the hostel are also nice people so i didn't have bad experiences with anyone.

The hosts were very friendly and made me feel welcome, however, upon arrival the project had changed entirely from what I had agreed to online. I had agreed to 4 hours of bar work, 5 nights a week, in the evening, with 2 days off a week and 3 meals a day provided. When I arrived I was told the bar was closed so I'd be cleaning the whole hostel alone every day, in the middle of the day, only 2 days off for the whole time I was there, and no food provided. I did continue for 11 days, but after returning after my one day off to find nobody had cleaned I felt taken advantage of. It's also lonely.
