Détails du programme

The volunteer program at TUNMAPS offers travelers an opportunity to support vulnerable families affected by incarceration while learning about community outreach and social justice in Uganda.

The program focuses on supporting children and families of prisoners through community visits, basic needs assistance, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities.
Volunteers work alongside the TUNMAPS team and local community members.

The program begins with a short orientation where volunteers learn about our mission, safeguarding principles, and the challenges faced by families of prisoners.

During their stay, volunteers may join staff on family visits, engage children in simple educational or recreational activities, help organize family support sessions, assist in distributing donated items such as school materials or basic household supplies, and support documentation through photography, writing, or social media.

A typical day starts with planning at the TUNMAPS office, followed by community visits or office support tasks. Volunteers usually contribute a few hours each day, allowing time to explore the local community and culture.

We expect volunteers to be respectful, compassionate, and open-minded when working with vulnerable families.

In return, volunteers gain valuable experience in community development, grassroots nonprofit work, and supporting marginalized communities.
