Thank you for your review, Naoual. I can't say I'm surprised — it reflects the dynamic we experienced throughout your stay. I communicated, listened, and provided detailed feedback, yet clearly without success. I would have loved to address each point here, but the character limit — and frankly, past experience — suggests it wouldn't change much. I hope your next experience brings more satisfaction. Wishing you well.

Thank you for your review, Romain. I won't be able to address every point here. You quoting my message without any context and following explanations reflects quite well your behavior during your stay. Despite showing a will to listen, this was never followed by a will to understand, correct and improve which is a real shame. You lived alongside Japanese guests and international staff and did not showed much interest in reaching out to them unfortunately... Wishing you all the best anyway.

I feel the review could (should?) have been even more severe and harsh seeing what they experienced here. As Adrien said, we (managers) were away for 2 weeks and they did not get the proper support they should have received. We underestimated the pressure that it would put on there shoulders and we apologize for that misjudgment. We will definitely act differently to avoid all the issues they faced if we need to be away for a while another time.

My experiences were wonderful. Initially, it took some getting used to given my age and adaptability, but thanks to the patience of Vincent and Claire, as well as the Worldpackers who had already been working there longer, it was actually quite easy. The tasks were fairly easy and simple. They also didn't take long. In addition, it was nice to work together with other people. What surprised me is that we could use the amazing kitchen, that there was an ice machine, and that a car was available which we could use to do groceries or visit the local onsen....but no free drinks or events.

Vicent and Claire were great hosts. They were very accommodating and tried their best to make sure our stay was good. The volunteer tasks were straightforward. It was mainly cooking, housekeeping and cleaning during our stay. The area itself is surrounded by nature which we often went on a walk. Overall, highly recommend!

I had an amazing experience at the guest house! Vincent and Claire are wonderful hosts, and the lodge is very peaceful in the summer. Hours were always respected, and plenty of opportunity was provided to get groceries. I really enjoyed meeting the other volunteers. Don't expect a ton of activity outside of volunteer hours in the summer, but enjoy the hiking and peaceful countryside!

I stayed at the lodge during the low season, which is quieter compared to winter. I had my own little room in the attic, which allowed me to have my own space and relax when I wanted some alone time. The hosts made me feel at home from the very first day. Claire took me to the doctor and the pharmacy several times when I needed it, and she was always attentive and available. I'm very grateful for both. Since the area is a bit isolated, I would recommend coming with an international driving license so you can rent a car, and explore the beautiful surroundings.

Claire and Vincent were amazing hosts. They'd help us during our shifts, organize outings/game nights, drove us places & always willing to help! While here, I learned quite a lot of Japanese, and was able to try to make many different types of Japanese food :) During my free days, I also got to visit towns/cities like Niseko, Kutchan, Otaru, and Sapporo. I'd suggest getting your international license because they have an extra car, but I also found the bus totally fine :)
