Had a good time at Samaritan, it took a couples of days to get acclimatized to the new environment, especially in the february heat, but teaching the little kids became a highly rewarding experience. The children at the schools are adorable and eager to learn. Getting to know the friendly staff of the volunteer house was also great and we had a lot of fun. I truly felt the organization has made a big impact on chamazi and the schools it supports, and i am happy to have been able to contribute to these efforts.

I arrived home today, and I already miss it so much. I spent the past four weeks volunteering with Samaritan Volunteers, and I truly regret not staying longer. It was an incredible experience that allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture while making a meaningful impact. The children were so sweet, full of energy and kindness, and always eager to learn and connect. Jackson and Emmanuel, were incredibly supportive—they were always there to help with anything, making sure we felt comfortable and safe. Their dedication and passion for the community were truly inspiring.

My experience in the organization with THO will never be forgotten in my life. All the organization professions I met in the hospital were very welcoming, friendly, and passionate to walk me through clinical practices. I rotated different departments such as ER trauma, labs, labour ward, orthopedic operation room, pediatrics, and ICU. It really helped me narrow down what I am most interested in and yet I wish I had more time to explore other areas as well. As a volunteer who never had clinical experience before, I truly learned so many things about medicine and it influenced my life and career path.

I had an amazing experience volunteering with THO! Dr. William, the hospital staff, and my house mom, Asha, made me feel truly at home during my entire stay. Soon after I arrived the other volunteers became like family. In the hospital, I was able to work along doctors, nurses, and other students in the ER, labour ward and the NICU. I was able to not only exercise my skills but learn by watching doctors closely in action. Everyone in the hospital was so kind and helpful. In my time off I was also able to explore different parts of the organization such as Zanzibar and even a Safari. Thank you again!!

Excellente expérience avec les Volontaires Samaritains. La communication n'était pas toujours au point, mais Mbappe et Jackson étaient tellement charmants et toujours prêts à aller au-delà pour nous assurer que nous passions une bonne expérience.

Le travail était merveilleux et les enfants étaient vraiment incroyables, mais la description du projet n'est pas exacte. Vous n'enseignez pas réellement de sport n'importe où; vous restez surtout devant la classe en enseignant l'anglais, les mathématiques et le dessin, souvent sans enseignant présent (du moins dans notre école). C'était difficile à cause de la barrière linguistique, mais très éducatif. La maison était agréable, mais apportez quelque chose à faire hors ligne. L'expérience était agréable, mais le projet semblait être un montage pour gagner de l'argent. Vous ne voyez pas l'argent que vous payez être investi dans les matériaux et les écoles. N'hésitez pas à m'envoyer un message.

merci pour vos retours. Nous aimerions préciser que les activités sportives ont lieu le vendredi, notre jour officiel du sport, et tous les bénévoles peuvent y participer à moins qu'ils ne prennent le week-end de repos. Les autres jours, les bénévoles soutiennent l'anglais, les mathématiques et des leçons créatives selon les besoins de l'école et la disponibilité des enseignants.
Les frais du programme couvrent l'hébergement, les repas et le soutien à nos projets scolaires, qui incluent des matériaux et des améliorations à long terme, qui ne sont pas toujours visibles immédiatement.

Dans l'ensemble, j'ai vraiment apprécié cette expérience. Il y avait énormément d'activités disponibles pour les bénévoles après le travail, allant de cours de danse au volley-ball sur la plage. L'environnement de l'hébergement en famille était parfaitement agréable (apportez un répulsif contre les insectes !) et nous avons appris beaucoup sur l'organisation. Cependant, je pense qu'il y avait un peu de manque de leadership dans le cadre hospitalier et il semblait y avoir une réception mitigée pour les bénévoles à l'hôpital. L'hôpital n'est pas très occupé non plus, donc les bénévoles se retrouvaient souvent avec peu à faire. Si cela ne vous dérange pas, vous devriez passer un excellent moment !

Merci pour votre avis honnête ! Nous sommes ravis que vous ayez apprécié les activités, l’hébergement chez l’hôte et d’apprendre sur la Tanzanie. Les hôpitaux ici, comme dans de nombreux pays africains, peuvent être plus calmes, car beaucoup dépendent des soins privés, donc si les gens ne peuvent pas se payer le traitement, le flux de patients est plus lent ; cela signifie moins de tâches pour les bénévoles certains jours. Nous travaillons toujours à améliorer la communication et le soutien hospitalier. Merci de faire partie de notre programme !

I joined this project hoping to make a real difference in the community and gain practical hospital experience, but it fell far short of expectations. From the start, we missed the main outreach activity because the program manager forgot to pick up our house. In the hospital, we were left without supervision — the doctor we were paying for was absent most of the time — and received no real training or engagement from the staff. Despite the hospital being decently equipped, there was a clear lack of willingness to involve or teach students. No procedures were done by my part at the hospital.

My time working in the hospital was an unforgettable experience. The people I've met are incredibly welcoming and eager to teach the volunteers their practices. My host mom, Asha, made sure to take me out to experience the local culture and markets. Working alongside such smart and dedicated people in the hospital gave me a new appreciation for the challenges they face in the organization how they overcome them. I was able to take the time to travel over the weekends (Zanzibar, Bagamoyo, Mnemba, Mikumi), and there was not one place that I wouldn't recommend other travelers to go to.
